04-08 will beat you and the LP ones will destroy you.

Why would you care? Are you looking to buy one or the other?

Buy the Vette, it's much cooler and cheaper to maintain.

According to Car&Driver, an 04' Gallardo is a 12.2 1/4 mile car. I assume a stock 02'-04' would give it a good race, depending on the driver.

I toyed with one that went on a cruise with cars and coffee. Through various roads, curves, straights, etc....we were "competitive" I'd say. I don't straight race personally, so who knows but...doing a little cat and mouse it was definitely close.

An lp car is technically faster but a c5z in the real world is likely faster.

I wouldn't be too worried around any track, unless there's a pro in the seat of the lamborghini.

You're right, I didn't have to. But I wanted to. Like anyone else I was curious what it was about. The OP could have looked up stats from car mags if he wanted to know this.

Besides, just because I didn't care for it doesn't mean I can't express my opinion. You yourself express an opinion in just about every thread even when you don't like it. I was just less friendly about it.

How are you coming to that conclusion exactly?

I don't know the specs of the Gallardo but if the Z can even "hang in there" for some/most of the race id say that's pretty amazing given the price difference

Lambos, like Ferraris, and their like are undeniably fast, but you need to be just as fast accessing your bank account when its time for tires, brakes and even routine maintenance. Then there is the terminal monetary hemoraging if you actually happen to break something, god forbid!

It's cheaper to own a used Ferrari than a brand new Corvette, even with the maintenance

Lamborghinis don't seem too bad, lots of parts sharing with Audi. Most of these cars are pretty robust but catastrophic failures would definitely be expensive if one occurred. Tires and brakes, as long as you aren't dealing with carbon ceramics, don't seem like they'd be out of line with the Corvette?

Well, have you ever seen a stock lamborghini driven fast while not at the hands of a pro caliber driver?

In what situation? Drag as in the contex of the OP's post? Not really, I've only seen a UGR Gallardo at the track and that probably doesn't count. I've seen plenty of fast Corvettes at the track running 2.4 60 foots though. I would think the AWD Gallardo would have an advantage at the strip.
