Possibly the single best investment for your car
I didn't know if anyone had posted this before, but I just ran across this item and this little inexpensive tracking device might be just what the doctor ordered. If you have any worries about your car ever being stolen, this might help you recover it. It appears there are very many of these in use and they offer a service called Crowd GPS, which helps you find a lost item (like your car). The tracking devices are cheap at $29 each and there is no service contract. The batteries should be replaced once per year. You can hide these anywhere and can also be used for a variety of things. Might be worth investing plus they have sales where if you buy 3, get 2 more free, etc. One phone can track 10 devices. Check this out and post your thoughts.

A nice device for wallets and such, but not so much for a stolen or lost car - for GPS detection the tracking device has to be within 100 feet of another phone that uses the same app. Not sure that works for a car unless it's in Manhattan.
An interesting device, however, and thank you for the post.
Edit: Amazon has a number of nationwide GPS vehicle tracking devices that range from $39 to $79, with monthly service charges ranging from $12.99 to $45. These devices plug into any vehicle's OBD port (or can be wired in), and allow the device to be switched from car to car at any time.

Just did some more searching and I have to agree. I think I jumped the gun on this item. Reviews on it are mostly very poor. Just saw it and it looked like it might be a good thing. I think the idea is very good, just the implementation is poor.

If they could ever get it to where it had a much longer range and would use an app that does use GPS to locate things would be good.
