Default BREATHLESS..."Short SHIFT kit" ..Installed,...>>>

I recently had the Breathless Short Shift Kit installed in the car....this after having so much displeasure in the stock shifter in the ZO6...
I decided on the Breathless unit, in that it allows for some variance in the shifter...you can vary the shifter 5 degrees to the right on left...I chose Right...and you have it moved forward of back...
I recommend that you get someone to install it for the minimal $$ amount, vs the time and effort required to do this...
Anyway, the first thing is that the shifter is extremely hard to shift...very STIFF, and virtually no play in neutral--to figure out which gear you want to go in...the throws are considerably shorter.... Initially it requires a great deal of force to shift gears...
HOWEVER, >>after a few days it loosened up some, and has become manageable..and I highly recommend it for driving enthusiasts...
The shifts are exceptionally short, precise, and direct...still somewhat hard though...and it takes a short while to get used too. I'm glad I chose it, it moved the linkage over and forward, which is more comfortable for my arm.
BTW..we will update our wheel program page on our website,
http://www.ronalusa.com/cars/cars_ht...y_c5vette.html
over the weekend...and you'll see some interesting things there next week.
NOW, I need to find a shift **** that I like.... :smash:

I also installed the BPP and like the position, firmness and throw distance, but can't stand the noise. Do you get that "rattle" type gear noise resonating up through the handle and *** under hard acceleration?

I agree, the noise coming through the gear shift ****, is very annoying...and you can feel the vibration w. your hand...That's why I thought about finding a unique gear shift ****...thinking the pin caused it that held the OEM **** on...I'll contact BP and see what's up...

It's not the pin. I put on a Breathless billet *** and it is even worse. I suppose because it is all metal and translates the noise and viabration without any plastic to absorb it.

Just got off the phone with Ernie. Nice guy. He is sending me the upgrade kit that consists of rubber washers that go between the spring washer and the shifter itself as well as a different wedge. Hopefully that will take the noise away.

 Ernie's a good guy! Glad I could steer you in the right direction. Hope that new kit eliminates your problem.
