Vettenuts double din center console
#21
So I blended my own color using the Satin Black and the Graphite together by letting the propellant out pouring off and mixing them in a cup then used a spray gun.
Perfect match
Going to let it dry overnight before putting it back together.
While I was at it I repainted the rest of it as I had fubared it up with peelcoat earlier.

While success does take effort, Vettenuts says the finish is "matching" - so it should not therefore require a lot of work to "match" it. They sell new bezels, so they know what they should look like. And match should include texture, not just color.

be improved and made lemonade out of lemons
Respraying this isn't a lot of work.
Live and learn.
Vettenuts is still figuring this out.
There is no matching off the shelf paint.
I used to be a professional bodyman and painter.
I had hacked my bezel and cut out the ashtray support so a new DD
one for only $50.00 more than a 249.00 stock one in 2 weeks from order was good.
Mar Hide interior trim paint or something like it can be mixed up to match this by a bodyshop supply.
Texture comes from how dry you paint it on the base coat.
If I was doing this commercially I'd buy it mixed to match in quarts.

I called and left a message for Vettenuts because I was interested in a match for my 50th Anniversary, but apparently they are not interested in selling me one.
Dennis has always responded quickly to any question or request in the past.

"Peoples do learn!"
There is demand for this and few suppliers so I think they have read this thread and are getting better and maybe getting trim paint mixed the right color.
I don't know.
It's not rocket science.

UPDATE: Since the launch of our Double Dins we have had some trial and error. For those of you who have one of our early versions we will be happy to send you the revised version which now is an excellent match.
We strive to build the best product and we have made some mistakes. What separates good vendors from great vendors is how they react when a problem arises. As any of you know who have done business with VetteNuts we make it right, no matter the cost.

Vettenuts was the first vendor I did business with when I bought my Corvette 5 years ago. Marc has ALWAYS been more than fair with me when any issue occurred. I'm confident this issue will be no different.

Just my two cents...
The texture of modified bezels was one of the best kept secrets on this forum. I know I read every thread I could find before I had my bezel modified and new stereo installed. I never remember anyone mentioning a difference in the texture when their bezel was returned.
I sorted through some issues with mine and it's fine now, but if you are **** like me it's not the same as stock. Close, but not the same.
So if your expecting it to be identical to when it's done, it won't be.
So enjoy your new tunes, bluetooth, GPS and such and keep your hand on the shifter!

Well im unhappy with the finish of my center consol from dd mods...
It was sprayed like somebody didnt give a **** it was even sprayed in the ashtray. The "hand" feel is like scotchbrite...horrible. The construction is fine just the bloody finish.
How do i take off the spray paint so i can refinish it? what would be a good technique?
BTW my corner subs from Vettenuts are of Outstanding construction and finish!

I just sanded mine with 180 paper
until smooth.
Worked great.
Or you could not sand it and wet spray it
so it would be more textured if that's important
to you.
I just wet sprayed mine to a smooth satin finish.
