Default "THE MOVE" aka N.C. here I come

So I walked into the VFW in King's Mountain, N.C. and asked "Who's Corvette is that out there?"... And he turns around, looks at me, and says "Art, it took you long enough to get here."...

One of our members here. But sadly, my PTSD Memory failure causes me to forget what his name is.

Anyways. HELLO THERE, GUY!

Drove the Vette from Boston to N.C. over a week ago, and put it in storage while I do the GREAT ADVENTURE IN MOVING.

Gave up on renting a truck and driving it down there.
Especially after U-Haul quoted $4,600.oo+ for a truck and trailer.

Going with Old Dominion. A 28 ft. trailer being dropped off at my house, 3 days to load it, and then 3 days at the other end to unload it.

Collecting 40+ years of Family stupid **** together, and getting rid of a lot of CRAP. Scrap Metal guy's been here twice already, and coming back again.
one eight hundred got junk is coming on Tuesday to clean out the house. Attic would have killed me in this short a period of time. I've been taking stuff out of there for years. LOL

Got a house with a nice SHOP, right off I-85, just south of King's Mountain. I AM GOING TO HAVE FUN....

First item on the list is installation of my own LIFT!!! You betcha!

Past two days here, with temps dropping, and the miserable little rain have been wrecking havoc on my arthritis. Hands, knuckles, knees, joints in general. Right wrist popped (every year at this time this happens) and the hand was pretty useless most of the day.

BUT

It's a LOT WARMER down there. I can't wait.

Default And, of course, while I was driving around...

Went to Anderson, SC to meet up with a couple I met at Corvettes at Carlisle. Dale and I took a little ride. Just Because.

That's Hartwell, GA.

Default Found a new home for my Wagon Wheels.

An old guy, like myself, low funds, but he's got a corvette.
I gave them to him for "CHEAP".
He almost Cried. .... awwww

Told him that he needed my wheels, first time I saw his car at Skip's Cruise, beginning of the summer.

He begged me not to sell them.
I 'promised' him they were his.

He came down and got them.
They look fantastic on his car.

I get tired just reading these moving threads you post, Art. I thought I had some serious stamina - you really set a new standard.

Best of luck with the move - wish I was there to give you a hand.

Remember, lift with your legs!

I'm 'staging' everything out in the tent garage so I can figure out how to "FIT" it all in a 28 foot trailer. Have to follow their guidelines on placement of "WEIGHT".
I still have Three rooms of furniture and appliances to fit. Not to mention boxes of clothes, kitchen stuff, the works.

Good luck on the move!

Have to say though, every time I see a shot of a car parked by a state line in the South, visions of a certain black/gold Transam pop into my head.......

Wishing you the best in your move and new residence. I plan on doing the same (different locals though) in the very near future. Gives me strength knowing other people are going thru the same thing I will be. Safe journey.
