Garage queen...the costs incurred.
I have a '03 vert which by any description is a garage queen. Just recently I had the reverse lockout solenoid go south. I just realized many issues are a direct result of not driving the Corvette. I never though it was an issue. So to all you Corvette garage queen owners when something breaks (like myself) we cannot blame GM but only ourselves for not driving our babies....

yup.
i'm puttin' mine back in service after a long hiatus. just took it in for tune up and a good once-over by mechanic.
am the original owner of my '04, only has 35k on it, and 5k of that done in past 8 years.
life is short, time to drive it.....more!

Meh, even if it breaks I'm okay with it. I don't drive it enough to get upset at the fact it's broken.

Driven or not failure will happen. If you enjoy looking at a car under your garrage light moe power to you. I personally only find a c5 appealing from one angle. That angle is over the wheel to the road. But seriously as long as you are enjoying your ride what does it matter if it is sitting or moving.

I won't argue that some things on a car will deteriorate over time with little usage. Not sure a reverse lockout solenoid is one of them but I guess it could happen. Luckily my garage queen has not shown any ill effects of just the occasional usage. Sure hope it stays that way, but a little extra driving time would at least be better than keeping it in the garage so much.

My garage queen C5z (avatar) has been driven 400 miles in the last 5 years. I just took it off the battery tender and under covers and thrashed it all weekend. Ran like a raped ape. Spent 2 hours detailing it and its back under the covers.
The sitting makes stuff break is a myth. Modern seals, etc do just fine and staying out of the sun does wonders for keeping a car in cosmetically mint condition.

I buy my cars to drive
even my supercharged Z gets used pretty much daily, sometimes I even use it as a work vehicle
Reason being its fun as hell to drive, no other explanation needed
If you find your car is sitting most of the time, just sell it, let someone else enjoy it

Wrong.
Life & circumstances change, sometimes you get lots of drive time, sometimes ya don't. No way I'm selling mine unless I absolutely positively have to. I feel fortunate to now have storage in my garage, nice & tidy and relatively climate controlled. Plus, it's paid for, and it means a lot to me in a variety of non-economic ways....otherwise known as sentimental value.

I drive mine as much as I can, but it's not a daily driver for me.
And I have had a few issues I want to correct, but nothing I could blame GM for.
I will admit it is more of a toy for me, but hell.
What good is it being on this side of the daisies without a chit eating grin on your puss every now and then.

I just don't understand the concept of these cars being garage queens. Why would you not drive it? They will never become collector cars, at least in our lifetimes and I certainly don't think that they will increase in value. When we sell these cars, we WILL lose money. There are just too many of these cars around.
I say, enjoy the cars, drive them until you get sick of them and sell them. Get your money's worth.

Took my grandson to a car show in downtown Hollywood (Florida) yesterday.....my Vette looked like most of the other Vettes there,
and I have 145,000 plus miles on it. Not a garage queen but still looks good.

I daily drive my c5 but what most of you guys are missing is the guys that have garrage queens that is what they want. Different people get enjoyment in different ways that is just part of life.
I personally like the fact that there are people that make them garrage queens because in a couple years when I am better off financially I want a nice low mileage example and that would be impossible if all of them were driving around daily.

I have had my C5 Z06 for almost 8 years....I've only put 3100 miles on it. Haven't had any issues from sitting. I just had the dealer do a service on it, all fluids changed etc. I also have a 71 Stingray. I bought that about 3 years ago....maybe 1000 miles since buying. Picked up a 2013 Camaro ZL1 in July of this year...haven't put 500 miles on it yet. My truck gets all the miles..lol

Some guys treat these cars like pretty women, they get them and put them away, never to be seen again.

After years of trying to convince my FIL to enjoy life, to spend some of his money; buy a new car, go on trips... I came to the conclusion that he does enjoy his money; by watching it sit in his bank. To each their own.

I drive my car every chance I get and it kills me to see it covered undriven. I need to replace the wheel hubs and will be driving her again soon.
