I will not lie, there are many times I hate Florida, this was one of them, and every 98* day with 90% humidity. Then there is the lack of any seasons but summer and spring. I often think of moving just far enough north to get some kind of fall and winter or all the way back to my childhood home of the Pacific Northwest.
We do have a nice sunny warm/cool winter
As a distance runner, I also hate the years of 90 degrees runs for 9 to 10 months a year. BUT, I love being able to run 12 months a year. Where ever you live, there are some negatives and positives. And if we are not happy, we can move.
Our son is deployed and his fiance is trying to get back to town after leaving last Thursday. She lives in Battery Point. Can she get back in town yet?

Yes, they just opened the county line, but there is no power and limited travel in neighborhoods, not to mention the downed trees and power lines. Have not been to the Point.

There is a C6 in the C6 forums that was filled up to the top of the console. It's probably totaled, all the electronics filled with muddy water, battery still connected. some water on the hood is a blessing.
Yet we start another day w/o power. Have seen elec line trucks from Ohio, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky and I'm sure there are more states represented here. Many thx to those states. It's official now, Beaufort County was the hardest hit in the state and we still have three locations were folks cannot enter...
I drove down Sunday from Charlotte to Charleston using only backroads. Once I got into Kershaw County I noticed there was no power, and it was like that right down to Monck's Corner. I saw dozens of trees down on power wires. And thought that this is just what I could see on the route that I chose to take. I can only imagine the total number of trees that need to be cleared and wire breaks that need to be repaired. awful.
That's not all folks, hundreds of private docks have been wiped away. Dataw Island nearly lost their dock, all those boats are washed up throughout the rivers. Palmetto Bay Marina, oldest/largest, on Hilton Head Island (still closed) was totally wiped off the map.

I could revive the red one. The water isn't up to the torque tube yet. The hubs, some of the suspension components, and some of the lower wiring pig tails are probably toast. A brake caliper rebuild to be safe. The A/C compressor is probably submerged.

I hope it isn't salt water though.
Water was up higher and had dropped by the time pic was taken. Not sure how much got wet but was pretty high looking at the door water line.
I'm out by Jacksonville Beach. I was happy when the electricity came on this morning.
My internet is still a little slow.
I stayed home with a flashlight and a FM radio with the windows boarded up. It was a beautiful day today though. The car was safe in the garage.
My son is 8-10 blocks off A1A on Jax Beach, they evacuated to the mainland. They were able to get back early Saturday afternoon, all was well at their house. The storm surge was expected to reach them, but luck was on their side. Everything is fine at my house, not nearly as bad as expected.
Hang in there! This is only a temporary inconvenience. My daughter lives in the Baton Rouge area and lost everything they own, cars, house, furniture, etc, but everyone is safe, we are rebuilding the house and everything should be back to normal by Thanksgiving.
Take your Vette out drive around and enjoy the day.
