I'm not saying you can't make a c5 a track monster; the platform is there and the bloodline of c5 c6 and c7 can't be argued

But when you come in acting like a clown, driving a clown car, expect the circus.

I got a C5 to build as a hobby. People like building them as much as driving. Buying a new car is not for someone who wants to work on it. I'm sure the opposite is true.

I wouldn't spend C7 money on modifying a C5 but you might be surprised what can be done with $10K given the right skill set and tools. Of course this kind of work isn't for everyone.

When you build something you tend to appreciate it more. I don't really push the limit of the one I have so I have no need for the C7.

The C5 still looks better than most stuff on the road and has some old school appeal.

Yes I spend lots of useless cash on my car making it what I want. I will never see a return on investment. BUT I will smile at you as I motor by in my paid off C5. And probably spend more money on it too!

I haven't taken a loan on a car since 1976, I paid cash for my C-7 and my C-5, and my truck and my Impala......

The C3 Stingray body style got me hooked on vettes. It took me years to warm up to the C5 body style, but once I bought one, I loved it. I own a C6 Z06 also, and its very nice, but when I get in the C5, I feel like I'm home. I love the C7's and I am wanting a C7 vert very bad, but I can't make myself sell my beloved C5. It's mainly the stance and the look as it comes at you on the road, plus it just feels more like a race car.

I took the C6 on a road trip last weekend and I saw a lot of C6's and C7's, and they are very nice, but every time I saw a C5 coming at me, it made my heart skip a beat, they are so racy looking, so I have made my choice for the time being anyway...cause I gotta have a vert no matter what, nothing like the wind and sun coming at ya...:rock :

P.S...I'm also a huge fan of flip up lights and the clean look when they are closed...

Default C1 thru C7 - they're ALL good.

I love ALL corvettes.

It's a personal problem that I'm trying to deal with. Need a bigger garage and a multi-car discount from my insuring underwriter.

Exactly

I actually love all Corvettes no matter what, I made the comment tongue in cheek to show how rude his original post was. While I would never customize my Corvette like he did (I'm a stock class autocrosser), I can appreciate his passion and the fact that he enjoys it. There are many different people in this hobby enjoying the Corvette many different ways, I just don't understand why he rents space in his mind about what others do with their money. If people want to spend their money on a new C7, I say more power to them. I've bought two C3s used, a C4 new, a C5 used, and a C6 new...I enjoyed every one of them for different reasons. I still have the C4 because I like it the most of all of them, it's a special car with a distinct sound and a rich history.

Interesting you say that about the much-maligned C4. It was the first Corvette since the C2 that really caught my eye. Still prefer my C5 and would love to own a C7, but the C4 has some modernity to it that, in my eye, brought the brand closer to a sports car, away from being a track star. Nothing wrong with track cars, mind you, just not my cup of tea.

Yes I did install them. I noticed my OEM corner lights had a melted top where the heat from stock bulbs were extremely hot and melted the plastic housing. Was it a pain? yes it was...and WORTH IT!

You know nothing about this car is ever easy....no matter the mod or repair it's going to cost you some cash and skin from somewhere on your hide. But you pay to play.

Not to stir it up, but to be perfectly honest. When I see another Vette no matter what or who they are I always look and wave.

The way I see it, we are all Vette enthusiast so why worry what model or class, we all have passion for the same thing. Some can afford newer and some just like the newer, for me I am just lucky that I have one. LOL

A C7 Z parked next to mine at the store. It left me really wanting the wide tires.
