VERY annoyed by family's comments about my C5 at dinner.

I agree, there is no way that this guy is jealous of a 12-19 year old Chevy Corvette. He is arrogant, knows it all and likes to push buttons and stroke his ego.

American cars
I've had several people denigrate GM,etc., but the world has changed and so have US cars. Some of the best cars in the world are made right here. People are so convinced by what they believe without the facts to back it up.

If you really love this girl you better get used to her pompous father and learn to keep the topics focused on and about him and you will be better off. As long as he can hear himself talk about himself and you agree with him and throw in a compliment every once in a while, peace will prevail. Just try not to visit to often, maybe move out of the area or state.
Good luck.

You might want to show him the latest test with the 911 turbo v. the 2017 GS. ( I think it was Motor trend or Car and Driver) Throw in a copy of Consumers guide with the current auto statistics for reliability. Arguing with idiots simply brings you down to their level.

This is one of those no win situations. Just let it go, who cares what he thinks. You will never win the argument. Just nod and move on.

Safety Car
It will be OK
Some people just don't like the Corvettes but that's is Ok . I have been to open car shows and some Hot Rodders feel the same about Corvettes and the owner as well . Its all about how you feel . I think owning a Corvette is about having a attitude if they don't get it well you can't X-plain it move on enjoy your C-5 .. Your one of us cool..

This reminds me of when I participated in a track day with my 2010 Cobalt turbo a few years back . Before the first session I got a lot a condescending remarks from people in my group that were mainly Euro car slobs and ricer owners . After the first session of passing Audi's at will on the straights I was asked to open the hood to verify that it was stock . I guess nobody informed them that John Hennressy set a record for front wheel drive cars at the Nurburgring with one of these .

I have been married 42 years and one rule I always try to follow is not to argue with relatives or friends at gatherings.........it just never ends well and people have long memories. So I avoid the bait and just eat, drink, and be merry ;^)

I was calm and composed, but they were a bit intoxicated and kept picking, and picking, and picking. It was probably 10+ minutes of them talking about my car before I got upset. I'm just really, really proud of it. I worked and saved, and saved and worked for this thing. It gets annoying when a peon, who happened to luck out in the gene pool, is drunk and won't stop saying crap about a car you worked so hard for, while this loser couldn't even afford a POS econobox without dad coming to the rescue.
Like I said earlier...I feel better now. Just had to vent.

I just stay away from obnoxious people. I'll go to another room, or, if necessary, I just leave. There is no need for it. Just because someone is family, doesn't mean I have to have a relationship with them. They either treat me with respect or I'm out. I would be gracious to the hosts, say, "I think it's time for us to go home", and thank them for dinner.
I had some family not treat me with respect one Christmas. The next year I didn't go. The year after that, I did go, but said if there was any disrespect, I would leave immediately. They knew I was serious because I skipped the last Christmas. Much better behavior.
Take the high road. Treat everyone with respect, and don't get in arguments. As soon as anyone starts talking cr*p to you, don't engage them. Leave!

Next time the Million Dollar Man starts running his mouth about your Corvette say ,"well your wife sure likes riding in it". All jokes aside,i just avoid blowhards.Best to just excuse yourself and leave them hanging mid sentence while you head over to the buffet table.

Don't sweat people who don't dig corvettes....usually there are more people who dig corvettes then not...but everybody is entitled to their opinion.
The only opinion that matters about your corvette...is you.
Enjoy
