Ever considered just powder coating the centers? I know everyone is going with mono-colored wheels now, but I really like the polished lip

I've thought about it, I use to really like that color scheme but I think it's too over done. I'm still tossing ideas in my head, the wheels get in today and I have to take them to get the tires unmounted and then take apart the wheels and send them to powder coating so I still have time to make up my mind on final colors

Here is a quick idle clip:

Car was looking good and sounding good so I went for a little ride even though the ground wasn't too good:

I like it alot and i think it looks good, but in the end I decided I didn't want to install it.

So in the meantime my new to me HRE wheels came in from workmanw.

Obligatory putting the wheels next to the car to get an idea if it will look good pics:

So They have been sitting around for about a few weeks and I was supposed to send them to the powdercoaters to get coated but I couldn't make up my mind so I ended up using plastidip to get an idea:

Finally Today I installed them and managed to take some glamour shots!

I lowered the car as much as she could go on stock bolts, so its going to take a bit to settle So ill update pictures once that happens.

I am pretty much where I want to be with the car for now. Next upgrades will be Longtube headers and a new clutch, probably go with a monster clutch to hold power for the future motor i build for it!

I think this car was a supercharged car that got returned to "stock"

Have ya had the upper radiator shroud off yet? usually theres some modifications to to radator for the blower and also underneath passenger side is where all the tubing and such for the blowoff valve goes (at least on mine)

Car is looking sharp on the new wheels. Can't even tell it's dipped IMO - run it!

No, thats a good idea, Ill pull the shroud and see what it looks like. It's not really a big deal to me though, I am already saving pennies for the next phase of this car. For now its fix/update the little things and just focus on enjoying this and my other c5

Not much to update, just a few quick little things,

I removed the front bolts to get it to sit a little better in the front. I definitely need a new clutch now it sticks after a 1st-3rd pull, and I have changed the fluid like three times trying to get it flushed out and its clean each time. I am also going to add headers at the same time as the clutch. and I think the last mod is going to be a nitrous kit.

Compared to the Z06 this car is the perfect combo of daily driver and fun car and I really don't want to ruin that feeling. If I do blow the motor on nitrous ill probably just do stroker ls2 with ported 243 heads and probably a fast intake with a small cam.

Don't change the clutch just yet if it's not slipping. A Tick Master Cylinder should solve your issues. It got rid of my sticking pedal when nothing else helped. The fluid changes are good but don't really solve the problem.

Nice car. I'm thinking about plastidipping my HRE wheels too. Black wheels look good with Mag Red.

The larger bore of an LS2 allows for the later model rectangular port heads with larger valves. There are better choices than 243 heads for that block. That would be a mean 402.
The LS2 came with 799 heads which are the same casting as 243 heads so swapping to 243's wouldn't change anything except for the sodium filled exhaust valves.

Nothing too much to talk about, I decided to peel the plasti-dip off the wheel lips, I am very happy with how it turned out!

That isn't an LS6 swap, appears to be just the top end. The bulls eye is a dead giveaway. Good score though!

Awww yeah new Wheels came in during the shifter install!! I like the HRE wheels but mine don't have as much of a lip as I would like and to relip them would be impossible because the way this set was designed if I want more lip I have to run fender flares (which I dont want to). So I ordered these deep dish c5 thin spokes for in the meantime. 18x9.5 and 18x10.5

Back to our regularly scheduled program- If you run the c5 shift boot and have the c6 shiftknob w/o the chrome ring, you have to cut the boot and slide it up past the **** and then ziptie the leather to the cut out for the c6 boot.

On our way to the shop to get my master cylinder and Headers Installed!!

Name: nNweDmK.jpg
Views: 27
Size: 1.17 MB
Doh!! So the last couple of days the car has had a ticking sound which I thought was an exhaust leak (new shop said they think it is too) The new shop said they would install the headers and double check everything, well they did and the ticking did not go away, in fact it got louder. So after alot of diagnostic they thought it was a lifter failing, we pulled the heads and confirmed that my lifter had failed. Upon further inspection the lifter also decided to gouge the G5xb Cam that was in the car too. So here we are in the present (10/17/17). Due to being low on funds aka broke, I decided to just replace the lifters with ls7 lifters and trays, new top end gasket kit, new dampener, etc. The 243 heads I had milled down to bump my compression to 11:1 and I ordered a BTR stage 2 N/A cam. With a retune and the new headers I am hoping to be putting down around 415-425 RWHP

Stockish rebuild is a good idea, those OEM lifters should last you a long time. Excited to hear it run!
