To the OP: it's your car - do what you want with it as long as legal.

Speaking of "...handling in the snow", this isn't a Vette, but it's pretty cool:

These old waxers don't know anything....drive that b*tch in the snow, rain, hail...who cares. Put a hitch on it, pull trailers, roof rack go rallying...these are plastic cars with truck engines in them...they are workhorses not show pieces.

I remember in 1974 i had my first new car ['73 Chevy Vega] with wide ovals [forget the size]. I carpooled 40 miles to work with two guys. Big snowstorm, it took me almost 4 hours to get to work. It was a nightmare. Nobody wanted to drive back. One guy went home with another coworker and myself and the other guy hitched a ride in my bosses 911 Porsche. When the snow melted i went out and bought snowtires. i would never want to go through anything like that again. Semi retired now and work two miles from work but the vette stays in the garage in winter. Yes it can be done but unless your young and crazy why?

You can buy an old Honda Civic that'll plow through snow just fine for dirt cheap and get well over 30mpg doing. Or...an old Cherokee. I don't get the point of dealing with the hassle or extra wear.
I haven't seen anyone say the C5 was meant to be driven in the snow because it comes with a heater...yet...

This pic, along with the thought of driving a C5 on salted roads makes me cringe...

This is one of those "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" threads...even if the OP manages to get through the winter without crashing, the damage will be done by the road salt, and it will be irreversible...

Op's been spraying it with Fluid-Film and running it for years now with no ill effect. Definitely a different outlook than I have with my car. I've never had my current one in rain and won't drive it even if the roads are still spotted wet.

Mine will hibernate.

Exactly. I have spent my whole life in the greater Chicagoland area. Grew up in a rural farm town on a gravel road, surrounded by corn and cows. I learned how to drive in winter back in the mid-'80s when we had 6' snow drifts, and maybe a snow plow or two per day would make a pass down our road. After years of driving Firebirds, GTOs, Camaros, Mustangs, etc. through blizzard conditions in my youth, I bought my first 4x4/AWD daily driver in 1999 and haven't looked back. Never again will I drive my "play toy" cars in the winter, because...well...I don't have to. Could I? Sure. Will I? No. I don't need some over-confident soccer mom slamming her SUV into my Z06 because she couldn't stop sliding on the ice. If someone else wants to, that is awesome. Giddy up.

In Western Michigan (through the years) I have driven

F100's (rwd)
F250's (rwd)
70 Cutlass
72 350 Nova
82 Mustang GT
a bunch of other rwd cars w/ and w/o snow tires and no TC
Last 12 years
96 LT1 Firebird (w/ Bilzzacks)
03 Mustang GT (w/ Bilzzacks)
they were all a hand full

I have a Lincoln MKS AWD - makes the drive much less stressful

I think a corvette can be done with the right tires, but would expect it to be a hand full as well

No snow for my Vette. I have a 4x4 but the Tacoma is prone to rust from road salt so I plan on a sacrificial beater for winter now that I am in a snowy region.

Not only that, but if you survive the winter without any other drivers plowing into you, the road salt will get you...
