Burning Brakes
I have two neighbors that work at the Tech Center. I've ask each - how's the new mid engine vette look? With a huge grin "I don't know what you're talking about" and "It's beautiful" with the same grin still on his face. The other says there's a mule running around the proving grounds and it's incredible. One mentioned the price will likely start not too much more than the C7.

It takes two years to develop a new platform... and a completely new engine design takes longer... this motor had to be in existence in 2015, and on paper in 2014... to be offered in 2018. Just the facts.

I just opened the link and saw the picture...I didn't waste my time reading another article about a mid engine DOHC corvette. this mid engine DOHC Corvette idea has been around for 30 years. it was even in Motor Trend 30 years ago and Many other mags. It was a laughable joke when I was at GM... there was no thoughts at that time to move away from push rods...reason is DOHC motors run in the 10 to 13000 rpm range with so many moving parts that reliability would be compromised and since my Mentor was Dave Hill and his vision was to build the first benchmarked 200,000 k motor for the C5 and it would be push rods.... of course Dave is no longer there and either am I but this notion is so against the reliability fostered in the DNA of a Corvette Motor. IM not saying it will never happen , but its not going to happen in 2018.

Ill be Captain obvious as I was so lovingly called and say you will see a mid engine DOHC motor in a Factory Corvette R series long before you will see it in a production car.

IM 71 years old, Corvette has been in my blood since I was 18, my first Corvette. I've been an automotive engineer for 30 years less my Military career. I was involved with many designs over that time and many platforms from GM that no longer exist... in 1995 I was invited to join the C5 Corvette design studio. That's when the C5 and I hooked up.

I can't see it coming next model year. Perhaps in 3-4 more years I could see it happening.
