Default C5 Corvette the American exotic

Anyone ever go out to your shop or garage in the middle of the night and look at your C5 and think what an awesome car! looks like an exotic car to me It really is the start of the modern gen Corvette, gotta love it! The lines just never get old...

My 2000, is 17 years old and with 145,000+ miles and still get MANY compliments on it. I also love the lines and the look and the power....
So fun to drive and what a bang for the buck.

Owned mine since new in 2003 and still think it is a very good looking car. Always a thrill when you pull the cover off in the spring.

Just my opinion but the C5 strikes me as a timeless design, beautiful flowing lines that never seems to look old or dated. A nice well kept C5 coming down the road is always a pleasure to see! I don't think one could do better in the looks/performance bang for the buck area than with the C5. Have a good one!

It's a good looking car but far from exotic standards. The Corvette does try to take some styling cues from Maranello though, especially on the newer gens.

I'll agree with everyone so far - the C5 is still one fine looking car that offers power, performance and comfort. Are there flaws - sure there are, but I haven't found a car yet that is 100% perfect. The engineers and designers deserve congratulations for a job well done.

Yup, everytime I go into the garage, even though it's on jackstands for the winter, I'm in awe.

This past fall, the wife and I took a drive down to Saranac Lake to admire the fall colors. Even the US customs agent at the border was giving it the eyeball, and we ended up sitting there for several minutes answering her questions about the car. Should have seen her eyes pop wide open when I fired it up and the Corsa let out a nice bark.

With all the negatives we see here on the Forum on our cars the thing that strikes me the most is the paint, I'm sure most of you have seen my car along with Franks(Carcia) ET's, zdeckich's and many more that don't come to mind right now !!! People have asked me how much did it cost to get your car repainted, and their eyes get real big when I tell them it's original paint !!

Without a doubt, every time I head to the garage to grab a pop or a beer, etc... it stops me in my tracks and I have to just look at it.

The only flaw in the looks is that the rear end is a bit larger than you'd expect to find in a sports car, something that has been addressed in the C6 and C7. However, I enjoy the functional qualities of the larger trunk, which is more important to me than increasing the looks from a 9+ to a 10-.

Or to put it more simply, yes I still pinch myself when I go into the garage and see that beauty there waiting for me.

Lighting and interior materials used are the only two areas that date these cars in my opinion. Both of which are areas most upgrade anyway.
I honestly believe that if the headlights are upgraded and the rest of the lighting(exterior & interior) is upgraded to LED, along with a new leather covered interior...... then this is once again a modern looking car. Not including all the fancy electronics the new cars have these days. If the C7's end up like the C5's in 20 years, I feel bad for the owners when electronics start to fail and the parts are no longer available. That to me is the single biggest complaint I have with the C5. It is soooo popular and is/was such a huge success for GM. You would think they would take care of their customers by continuing to provide parts or setting up the aftermarket with patents/designs so they can. I have a 97' so I'm sure at some point I will be in a bad spot with this car when the electronics that are no longer made start to crap out. But, will cross that bridge when the time comes. Until then, happy 20th to my Torch Red Z51.

Yes, every night I check the front door, then head to the garage to check on my beautiful torch red Z06 before setting the home alarm. We are all fortunate to enjoy these machines. Save the wave!
