Early but...anybody going to Carlisle in August 2017?
So who is planning on going? Anybody going who lives nearby?
I didn't even have the car last summer, but now I'm thinking of going to Carlisle. Is it worth it? What happens there? What is the fee for general admission just to walk around?
I've heard some things about Carlisle, but not much as far as details. Can those who have attended fill me and other clueless owners in?
I did hear that some companies that manufacture headers (Kooks and/or American Racing?) do free installs if you buy through the company and bring your car to Carlisle. That alone is quite intriguing. Can anybody verify that? I can't find anything about it when doing Google searches.
I live about 75 minutes east of Carlisle. If anybody wants to cruise together, I know I'm game. Another member I know from here sounds interested too, so maybe some of us can cruise together to Carlisle. Is it big enough/interesting enough to warrant more than a full day? Just debating if I should plan one full day or two days and if it's better to stay in a hotel or drive back and fourth over a 2-day period.
Any information is much appreciated...I have no clue what it's like.

I'm in
I've got it on my calendar.
I will also be a first time attender.
The seller I bought my car from will be upgrading to a C7 so we my be driving in together. He says he goes every year, so it must be good enough to warrant multiple visits.
Info here:
http://www.carlisleevents.com/carlis...s-at-carlisle/
Looks like between 15-35 bucks depending on how many days you go.
I'm based in Springfield PA (west of Philly).
PM me if you want to drive in together.

BTW, I didn't forget about Cars and Coffee for the spring. I'll PM you as soon as details start rolling in about days, etc. If by April I don't send a PM, PM me.

I wish I lived so closely.
You guys will enjoy it.
I have to drive 9 hours, but I plan to attend.
Yes, vendors do set up shop there, and several will do installs along with the purchase.
Plan to spend the entire day there,
There are also folks that sell bolt on goody's and just about any needed parts for almost all series of Vettes up through C-6's. This year I.'m sure there will be a few folks there with replacement parts for the C-7s too. Everything from engines to body parts.
Several specialize in a particular series such as C-5 or C-6.
There are also displays of older racing vettes, one off show cars, a parking field for vettes only, and GM will have a display of the latest and greatest.

I am seriously considering it. It has been on my Corvette bucket list for a long time and although it is a long drive, from what I have heard it is definitely a show worth attending.

It's a must do if you have never been there. I went when I bought my 04 vert. Went again last year again and had a great time. Made me wonder what took me so long to go back. Bought a 2010 Callaway Grand Sport vert last October and will be taking it there this year. Already made reservations

If you're referring to the Fun Display, which takes up about 1/3 of the fairgrounds, then no. Those cars come and go every day, except for the new Reserved area, which costs more. I don't think you can camp there either. Camping is outside of the fairgrounds, but is close by - within walking distance.
This will be my 27th year in a row. This is the biggest and best Corvette shindig in the world.

This will be my 5th year in a row. With seminars, vendors, installations, cars for sale, GM presentations and thousands of Corvettes to see, I have not been able to do it all in one day. And that is without spending much time in the swap meet area.
If going for one day, Friday or Saturday are the best days to go and you should plan to arrive no later than 8:00 AM. If attending for more than one day, a Fun Field pass is the way to go. It gets you, your Corvette and a passenger in/out of the event all weekend long.
In addition to the Carlisle events website link that was shared above, there is an official thread in the national events section of the Corvette forum to which you should subscribe.
I had a Corsa exhaust installed at the event along with a tune from East Coast Supercharging. If I decide to get ARH headers, I will definitely do it at the show and have the experts do a free install.
I live about 90 miles east of Carlisle in Allentown. I usually go both Friday and Saturday as daytrips and sleep at home each night. I'm definitely interested in meeting up to drive in together and park together with other C5 owners. Feel free to PM me closer to the time.
In 2015, Corvettes at Carlisle did an American flag display and I was in it. Fifth row up, fourth car in from the right. Only I can tell it is me.
