That's what I use...a Battery Tender JR, both on my vette and my Harley. Great product.

I have a 4-bank Battery Tender and I love it! My Corvette is a 2004 which I bought new. As of right now, it has 10,700 original miles so you know it has sat in the garage most of the time. And yet, all I do is touch the switch and she fires right up like a new one.

Because I had used my Battery Tender since this car was new, I did not have to replace the original battery until it was 10 1/2 years old! That's not bad!!

That might be a record.... I never get my batteries to last longer than about 6.5 years.

I use a Schumacher 2 Amp battery maintainer on my 04 Vette. I too live in hot Florida and keep mine connected all of the time. So far so good.

Ctek for the C5Z, the Racecar and the boat. Never had an issue.

I used a BT on my '66 Sting Ray but it has clamps - no lighter plug. I just sold it and bought a C5 '98 and will be using it in that. Do they come with a lighter plug now?

Seems to be a solid alternative to the original.

Default Why I chose CteK

I do a lot of research before I buy anything...

The Ctek has an 8 step diagnosis cycle..
It does a Desulphation to remove any sulfur build up.
Its designed for Gel type Batteries.
It has a recondition cycle, ( the main reason for getting 8 to ten years out of a battery.)
I have a 16 year old Optima red top that I use as a Bench 12V test supply which I owe to a Ctek Charger.

I know a few things because I have seen a few things

CTEK here...works good and lasts a long time! Using it on Optima Red Top which I bought for my C6 because Delco was not holding a charge. My 10 has 8800 on the clock and doesn't get driven on anything less than "nice" days here in Colorado so keeping battery juiced is important and CTEK has never let me down.

I guess the trickle charger is like other types of protection. The brand may not be the most important thing, but make sure you use one every time you put your car in the garage... for more than a week or two with a C5.

Since I have several cars I rarely drive including my Corvette, I bought a 4-bank Battery Tender and keep them all on it all year 'round. Then they are ready to go in an instant when needed.

"Since I have several cars" Sounds like a good problem to have!
