Default Installed Cipher CPA2009 Leather Suede Seats!

Ive been waiting over a month for these on backorder CPA2009RS-PSDBKG. This thread will show these and also compare to my cheap ebay seats ~$220 I got last year from this thread https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-yourself.html

Dimension wise they are practically the same which I will show. The Ciphers are much better quality the leather is thicker, the suede is nice and plush almost velvet like. And the Ciphers are very sturdy where the ebay seats had about a 1/2" of flex in the back.

Was only slightly disappointed that all the threading came black where it looked white in the pictures since I was going to dye them red. I will be using this stitch method to convert the thread to red found on the NSX forums http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showth...olor-Stitching

Here comes the pics!

1. Came in nice bags

Out of the bags camera sucks indoors

CIphers were about 21 1/2" across the widest area up top which were slightly wider up top compared to the ebay

Ebay seats were 21" across

Ebay seats were 21" across the bottom

Ciphers were 20" across the bottom so slightly thinner at the base.

Side by side so dimensions are very similar. So if my Ebay seats fit last year than these Cipher seats should fit as well. I only did this comparison because someone in another thread said they couldn't get them to fit and sent them back.

The Ciphers sliders are the same as the ones that came with the ebay seats basically generic sliders. The bolts are better quality and have a nice black chrome surface

I used the bracket off the ebay seats for the ciphers. The Cipher rails were mounted about an inch wider to the seat. So you can see the holes extended on the left side. Forgot to take the after pic but had to add new holes in between the 2 holes on the right side. This was the most time consuming part of this project.

Outside finally pic shows them up better

When redoing my mounting holes I pushed the seat in closer to the transmission tunnel. Another user said he had trouble with the Ciphers reclining into the upper seatbelt reel area. Also Suede I used for the Tunnel matches up well with the seat Suede!!

About 3/4" of clearance in the upper Seatbelt area with the door shut. Also shows the comparision of the seat leather with the genuine leather on my doors and pillar.

With the mounting closer to the tunnel plenty of space between reclining handle and door sill. The Cipher handle is much better quality than the ebay seats.

All the way back was too far for me at 5'9". Should be good for someone 6' but might not be enough for someone 6'4" 250lb

The tunnel area was the place holding it up from reclining back more not the Seatbelt upper reel side. You could mount the seat 1/2" closer to the door and get a little bit more recline if needed without hitting the upper reel

My next challenge with be doing the red threading on the sides to match the rest of my interior.

Ill be curious how these hold up...had cipher auto seats in my 350z a few years back, I did not care for the locking mechanisms on the tilt adjusters, it did not hold the back all that well IMO, ended up getting the screw type with a mechanism on both sides. I also had a weld on the frame break as well...they gve me no issues with replacement, but...yeah if I was in a crash it did not leave me with an easy feeling...they do look great!

PS where did you get the buckle covers or are they custom made?

Older ciphers 1000 series were cheaper and I believe had to be put together. 2000 series are newer and better quality came fully built out the box and are TUV approved also about $650 but very worth it. Like I said no flex compared to the cheap ebay seats I used last year.

The buckle covers got on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/RED-STITCHIN...vQvl4A&vxp=mtr
Mine are actually C6 covers since I have C6 seatbelts

Few pics late to be uploaded to some cloud I really hate this stuff.

Ciphers and Ebays side by side basically same dimension

Floor bracket mounted to seats had to use some slightly rusty bolts as I didn't want to run to the hardware store

Proof of purchase limited lifetime warranty

They will not work if your browser blocks photobucket pics. When I am at work my pics are blocked by my company.

Thanks for the install update. I know you have been waiting a long time for them to arrive. Seats look awesome. So how is the comfort?

For me Awesome! im about 5' 9" 180lbs 34" waist. The bottoms are close to snug I could see a few more inches fitting. The cushion is semi-firm yet comfortable, reminds me of when I upgraded the stock seats with the DJmotorsports bottoms (firmer than stock but in a good way without sinking). The ribcage side bolsters are more snug which is good for spirited driving, borderline semi-tight. I could see someone 6' 225lbs probably the max for these seats, not for the "Big Guys" unfortunately.

I may end up moving the seat back a 1/2" closer to the door sill, away from the transmission tunnel. Sometimes it feels my right leg is too close to the tunnel. Besides that slight adjustment I feel I nailed the installation.

I think this post is going to make me replace my purple corbeu's

For corbeus you have to swap seats and put the adjuster on the tunnels side, would this help these seats?

Remember I have the C6 seatbelts that remove the large reel on the floor of the C5's. If you convert to C6 seatbelts then you could mount your Corbeuas properly

Do they have a green tint to them? It looks greenish compared to the other black plastic.

My Corbeau A4’s are mounted on the correct side, but I had to modify the Corbeau brackets to make it happen (link attached http://www.toquez06.com/corbeau.html click on the picture of the C5Z and go to the procedure he wrote on installing the Corbeau A4’s). They are installed with the C5 seat belts. They are snug against the tunnel but far enough back for me at 6’, 185 LBs and a 36” waist.

Having said that, I am still going to install the C6 belts and either the Cipher 2001 seats or the Braum Elite’s which look and are dimensionally almost the same as Tom's Cipher 2009’s he installed here.

I was going to opt for the Cipher 2001’s because they are narrower than the Cipher 2009 or the Braum Elite at the top. Because another forum member reported that he was having difficulty with the 2009’s as they were hitting the upper seat belt reel, and he had to modify the seat back. I did not want to go that route. But as Tom describes here that does not seem to be an issue. So I may go back to the Braum Elites as they have a color I really like, very similar to the Corbeau's currently in the car that I had recovered in leather.

Thanks for all the info Tom.
