Default Put in a C6 shifter last fall. Is there a gasket for it?

I will try explain this the best I can.

My 1999 C5 M6 had a Hurst short throw shifter in it. Didn't care for it so I ordered a C6 shifter and **** from a vendor here. Bolted in, love it.

What I noticed is that there is no rubber doughnut or anything like that to seal it from the transmission tunnel. I put the shifter in, and you can see through to the tunnel.

Is there a seal of some sort that goes around the base of the shifter? Like a rubber doughnut?

I should have taken pictures but car is still in storage now and won't be getting it for a week or so.

Thanks!

I think what you're missing is a "boot", part # 10332368. It's available online for about $22. Just Google the part # for a picture. It's a heavy rubber insulator that is secured with 4 bolts. Sounds like you'll need the bolts too.

Thanks for the info. I am going to have to check closer when I get my car back.

I swear I have that plate, but that rubber doughnut in the middle is missing. You can actually see right through to the transmission.

It's not unusual for that part of the boot to wear out, crack/split, or even separate from the rest of the boot. My guess is a previous owner removed it after it was damaged. Checkout MGW's site for their shifter install video. It shows clearly what the boot is supposed to look like.

After some thinking I can better describe my situation.

I looked at that MGW video and I have that part on my car with the seal on it.
But the hole is huge. It has the rubber seal but I can actually reach through to the tranny it is so big.

My guess is that "boot" was either cut to fit the Hurst shifter, or a different boot/plate came with the shifter.

The C6 shifter I put in is way skinnier.

If I order that part #, 10332368, does that boot look like the one in the MGW video - sort of like an accordion? Will that part work with a C6 shifter?

My car came with the Hurst installed so I have no original parts. But itf def has that "boot" part that is bolted down, but as stated the hole in the rubber seal where the C6 shifter passes through is yuge.

And it is not a rubber boot like an accordion. It is just like a doughnut.

The new boot will look exactly like the one in the MGW install video. It will work perfectly with the C6 shifter. That's what I have in my '02.

You definitely need a new boot. The original is usually cut in order to fit over an aftermarket shifter. Get one from Vettenuts.net ....they usually have some in stock.
