Default convertible top and rear deck lid

When opening and closing the the rear deck lid, it hits the bottom of the vertical rear of the top. I see GM put a rub strip there but there has to be a way to adjust this. Any ideas? Its a 2001.......

I have a 2004 that does the same thing. I try to minimize the rub by slightly pushing the bottom of the top forward while lifting or lowering the deck lid.
I have not seen any rub/wear marks on either the deck lid or rub strip and I am not sure if I would want to change the rigging on the top for just this.
Hopefully someone has a better answer.

Default Pics

Here are the Pics. The first one is with the Top unlatched and holding the tops front and rear vertical. On the back flap in the center (just above my Reds ballcap on pax seat) is the rub strip.
The second Pic is with the deck lid released and slightly lifted to where the point of the waterfall is just hitting the rub strip on the top.
When I had a 2000 Convertible I never remembered this being an issue, but that has been a long time ago.
Go Reds.

Thanks HV Vette. Those pics are spot on. I don't believe my top is out of alignment however that said, this can't be normal. It's not use as the car only has 17500 miles on it. While I just bought the car, it's not my first convertible. Both of my older ones were C4's though and I do like that setup better as far as top operation goes.

I have a 2001 with 120k and have no visible signs of wear
It does rub slightly when putting the top up and down but I see it as just how it is
I really see no reason for concern
Am I missing something here?

I had an '01 Millennium Yellow vert for 9 yrs and never had an issue with the strip rubbing against the lid - never left a mark over all those years. Nothing to worry about it's put there for a reason. Have an '03 MY vert now and same thing - no issues.

My point is the majority don't rub which leads me to believe there is an adjustment.

They all will probably rub if the top isn't pushed all the way forward and is why the factory put that wear strip there. I definitely sure would not try to adjust the top or you could open a whole new can of worms such as top hitting windows, leaks etc.

Mine rubs. I tried but couldn't adjust it out. I use a thin plastic strip about the size of a paint stir stick for a shoe horn. I keep it in the center console. Doesn't solve the problem but works great to stop the damage. A small plastic scraper or spatula would work.

Thanks JR-01. Leaks will never be an issue as the car will never see rain and the top is down 99% of the time. Issue is it gets put in garage with the top up to prevent wrinkles.

Your top may need an adjustment.
