How many of you have been able to share your car with Mom or Dad???
I know we're a predominately more mature crowd, but both my parents fueled my car hobby back to my teens. I bought a 70 GTO when I was 20 and Dad said "don't let Mom drive it!" I never knew why til one Saturday she asked to take it to pick up my sister from some event at school. She slowly rolled down the block til she nailed it, banged second and sent the car sideways. Dad looked at me and never said a word.
Apparently Mom had a 57 Chevrolet she street raced in the city during her younger years. Turns out my Dad and Uncle changed more clutches than they care to remember! Mom had left us before the Corvette came along, but Dad certainly enjoys "his" seat!

I've taken both my 90ish parents for a ride. Dad was shocked with the performance - Mom commented on the ride - "This is one of the better-riding car's you've had!" Both needed some TLC getting in and out - as I admonished them "Watch out what you lean on!" (cracked console replaced once already!)...

That's great, good story.
Unfortunately my dad passed a bit young, 20+ years ago. My mom has been in a home with dementia for about a year more than I've had the Z.
My mom was not a car person, but my dad loved a car with power. He had to drive my V8 Monza once, and was all smiles after that!

My 86 year old mom loved my Corvette. She always encouraged my fascination with cars and racing when I was a kid when everybody else in my family thought I was nuts. She just passed away last month. I think this was her last ride in my car.

I'm fortunate enough that both my parents are still with me. When I got my first Corvette back in 2012, they were among the first to know about it. I took both for a spin around the neighborhood with a good romping and they were full of smiles and a bit of fear. Neither of my parents were big into cars growing up, though they've mentioned a Buick Wildcat and Karmen Ghia in their pasts.
I grew up with a Corvette passion and always said one day I would own one. For my high school graduation gift in 1995, my parents took me on a road trip to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. The museum had just opened the previous Fall and I have some nice old pictures to relive those days. I've been back twice since, now with my wife and kids.
Through my years of ownership they have seen the car transform from bone stock, to what it is today. Mom still asks "is this it now, you're done"? She of course knows better as I've tinkered with my cars since the first one I had while living with them. Haha. They have always been supportive of my passion and enthusiastic for my success. Last year I started attending small, local car shows. Mom and Dad would spend their Sundays sitting for hours with me to enjoy time together, even though I know they could be doing other things.

stories.
Unfortunately my dad passed away back in 1987 and the only Corvette he was able to take a ride in was the very first one I bought - a 1979.
My mom is still alive and she has rode in several of the subsequent Vettes that I have owned. But at 82, it is very hard for her to get in and out of the car anymore so rides are pretty rare these days.

A couple of weeks after buying my C5Z I had to leave town for a month for work. I gave the car to my parents for the month and they drove it up and down HWY 1. When I got back from that work trip I took a months vacation and my dad and I took a 4,500 mile road trip sight seeing national parks. I take my dad out in the Vette every chance I get.

I bought my C5Z last September, both my parents (61 and 59) have ridden in it multiple times. My dad was the reason I bought a corvette, given the fact that he has owned 5 in his lifetime.
My purchasing a C5Z made him realize that he wanted another one, so 3 days ago he went out and bought a C7.
The only picture of both cars together, this was taken yesterday. I cannot wait to go cruising with him, and be able to enjoy the time him and I have together with our (as my mom puts it) "car babies."

I've had mine since 2007. I've also had it back to Nebraska a couple times. Both of my parents are still with us but I have yet to get them in it. I think my mom doesn't believe me when I tell her that I'd go easy for her. My dad just doesn't think he'll be able to get in and out of it. My dad is the one who gave me my passion for cars as I worked with him in his service station from the mid 1970's until about 1987 when he had to sell out. Now my sisters, they LOVE getting rides in it. I think next time they come down for a visit I'll even let them drive it if they want to, with me in the other seat of course.

My only disappointment when it comes to the vette is that my dad was not with us when i bought it. He passed in 93, i got the car in 98. i would not have been able to keep him out of this car. he was an absolute car lover. When i was living at home I would come home from work, my motor cycle would be gone. Mom would say your dad took it. he was the same way with the Camaro when i took the bike. Sure wish he was able to have driven my car.

Both of my parents have ridden in and enjoy my car. My Dad's mobility has dramatically reduced in the past few years. He doesn't ask for much but the last time he was in town, I caught him eyeing the car in the garage. He said he didn't think he could get in but really wanted a ride.
It took a bit of work but we got him in and we went for a ride in the country. All I can say is Corvette smiles are not limited to the driver's seat. It may have been his last ride in the car (hopefully not) but it was damn sure worth the effort. A memory I will cherish if it was.

My mom is 64,I took her for a ride once. She didn't like it,I guess I took the on ramp to fast. she said I bet you would not have done that with grandma. I just smiled at her and told her grandma likes to go faster than that,(she's 87.) the first time I took grandma for a ride we went to wal mart. I told her I would probly have to help her get out. (NOPE) she was out of the car with the door closed before I got out. After that I took her to Wal Mart every SAT. In the VETTE she loved it. I didn't care if I got a scratch on it there, because of the smile on her face. I lost grandma in JAN. Sat.morning Just aren't the same anymore. I miss that lady.
