Need help with this noise. What is it?

To me it sounds like it's in the valve train. Maybe.

The motor runs fine and it goes away under acceleration.

I agree. They are cheep and will narrow things down.
There are too many possible problems to tell just by ear.

Check your power steering fluid, the rack makes a lot of noise when its low

I can make a list as long as your arm of possible noises but unless you can localize it you will be running in circles guessing.

It could be an AIR check valve.
It could be an exhaust leak
It could be a bad lifter.
It could be a cracked piston.
It could be a bad valve.
It could be something running off the belts.......
The list goes on.

Also, are you throwing any codes?

you have me curious now too... was thinking valve but it could be alternator or some other pulley... I had a similar (I think) sound a year or so ago but doesn't seem to be there now, haven't replaced anything but tires and a EBCM on mine though

I'll be checking back to see if you discover the culprit
