Day number 5 of heads and cam swap. Going very smoothly and taking my time. I have no reason to be in a hurry. I know many guys can slam this stuff out in a weekend and I used to do that stuff to my race car but this car is just too nice.

Yeah, pretty sure I know what you are talking about...Its just a little bracket for the hose. I pulled mine off...

Finally tore into my "dirt cheap" c5 I picked up. Looks like all damage was contained to the lower radiator support, radiator, ac condenser and fans. A little bit of bumper damage underneath but pretty much fixable. Spent about 45 minutes to get all of it out. I already like working on this car more than most other LS vehicles I've worked on. Have a lead on everything but the lower radiator support. Should have most of the parts next week.

after...

Well I am happy to report there were no explosions on first start up. In all seriousness though this isn't my first BBQ.

Another substandard cell phone video to bore the masses with.

Very nice sir! You're making it very hard for me to resist the temptation to put a cam/springs in mine while I have the front end apart. 😅. Told myself I am keeping it fairly stock at first....driving it for a bit. Then going from there.

Nevertheless... Congrats!

That looks like a fun project. Good to see there's still some guys out there willing to fix something else someone would throw away. Nice job on the repairs. What's the story on the car if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks Sids. You know there's nothing better than good father/son time. Sounds like he's enjoying the car as much as you hoped?

Really not much of a story honestly. Right place at right time deal. Someone just approached me at work and said he knew where a Corvette was for cheap ..called the guy..got the scoop on how bad it was..a couple hours and $1000 and I was headed home with it. Car has almost all new paint work, new seats new top. New t56 a year ago, clutch... Alot of new parts. He popped over a curb. And was done putting money in it I guess.

Noticed awhile ago that the right side exhaust was against the tail fascia so got some sockets and ratchet , got down on the ground to see why, loosen and moved stuff and retighten. Now, more solid and about 3/4's of an inch clear. Now, to go road test it with an afternoon cruise about the roads less traveled and have cows and horse's stare at me as I easy by.

Decided a while back to clean up the engine. I love the old school small block chevy look. Next is to get the custom fuel rails.
