What type of fluid residue is inside? Could possibly be an oil tank... Maybe it was for some other application?

The parts box came with some LS1 stuff too. Maybe it was on one of his other cars. Original owner has passed away, otherwise I would have asked him. I appreciate this forum a lot. Great wealth of information from all the members here.

I doubt that it's a catch can as there appears to be only one in/out. I secondarily thought it could be an auxiliary oil tank to help with a turbo or supercharger setup, that is if there's any indication that this car had one of those setups at one time. More than likely it goes to some other project.

My guess is it has nothing to do with any Vette and just wound up in the box. I've done all the work on my Vette myself including installing headers and a new clutch. I have never seen anything even remotely similar.

This is my guess too, as the car was near-immaculate with high end upgrades only, previous owner extremely meticulous and wouldn't put something like that on this car, as it isn't exactly the prettiest thing. Must have gotten mixed up in there somehow.

Nothing wrong with boost if it was tuned right.
Heck, many c5s these days have deferred maintenance items stacked up and are rolling piles. Boosted cars are probably better kept than the average.

Yeah , I agree. But if it was boosted and I wasn't told I befirevthe purchase , I won't be too happy about that.
