Anyone heard of a C5 "Type S"
I came across this C5 for sale. It has an emblem on the side "Type S." It has an LS6 engine and rear brake air inlets like the Z06 but it is a coupe with an automatic. It looks like a hybrid between a coupe and a Z06. I can't find anything on a Corvette Type S using google searches. Anyone have any insight?

A PO who was decal happy is what it is. I'd check that LS6 also is really one if you are considering buying, and you want an LS6.

Did they add the targa to a FRC? I've seen that before. But "type S" was never a thing on C5s. Maybe some badge engineering. If so, run!

I doubt it's an LS6, probably just red coil covers, with stick on z06 brake vents ( doubt they are cut and actually ducted)
and yes as stated above , I am sure it's a type s import sticker slapped on the side ....... no thanks

Pics would help, but there are a few things that would cause me to pause on that car. If it is truly a coupe, and not an FRC, then you'd need to confirm that it really has an LS6 motor in it and not just the red fuel rail covers. If it is an FRC, someone went to a lot of expense to convert it over to an automatic tranny since the FRCs only came with a manual.
If the car has a targa top and a rear hatch, then it is a coupe that has had some Z06 items added, like the brake ducts.
Finally, there is no such thing as a Type S Corvette. Don't think I have heard of that one before.

The LS6 was only available in the Z06.

Just my prejudices here but I would be super careful about any corvette wit a "Type S" badge on it. Only a ricer does that crap and they are well known for doing cheap and stupid mods to cars. Zeus knows what that vette has had done to it.

I think is is safe to say ALL Corevettes are "Sport" editions.
<edit> My C4 had LSx stickers on the hood from the PO.
