Landers is the new owners of the old David Stanley Chevrolet in Norman. I think they're out of Texas but not sure. $17k for a 2001 is pretty rich and even though they say they won't go any lower, you and I both know that's just car salesman talk. You might go back and tell them you've found another Vette that you're considering... that it's also the right color and low mileage, but owned by an individual and you can pick it up for $15k (or $14k or whatever). When there's another player in the game, their attitude can change. Offer them $16k (or whatever you'd like to pay) and see what they do... Can't hurt.

NADA states retail is $19,200 for an '01 w/33k. IMO I'd say $17k isn't too bad if it's in perfect condition.

I don't think anyone has asked this question yet....are there any mods on the car.

As a point of reference I paid $17.4 for my 2002 with 48K miles, a brand new interior, Mid-America Quad Power exhaust, new tires, and a bunch of engine compartment "beautification" mods.

Auto tranny's sell for less and far more prevalent . I'd guess it's worth around 14-15k not 17k . A silver auto is a common coupe. Surely craigslist can save you save you several thousand

It's what you want and it's available now. What else is there to say?

Thanks for all the feed back. Negotiations started at 18900. I have haggled to 17 in a weeks time. I like the car but it will be Saturday before I can make it to Norman. And inspect and drive the car and give it a proper road test. I live in northeast part of Oklahoma , so it's a bit of a road trip to go test drive. I want a 2001 or newer. Everything on Craigslist is higher than 75000 miles in the 14 to 15k range.

Check the codes when you test drive it. Also if you can get the VIN a member here can run it to get service records and also check Carfax.
Since it's a Chevy dealer, are they going to give you any warranty or 30 day buy back?

It started at 19k for a silver auto c5 ..Wow your location must be a high demand area . Your over paying for a common car that can be found elsewhere but if it's worth it to you then that's all that matters . There's around a dozen low mile c5 z06 for under that price around here on Craigslist

Check accident history. Maintenance records? A full check by a qualified C5 tech/shop (not the dealers shop!). Be demanding and fussy. Any issues, walk away and keep looking. Plenty of primo cared for C5's out there across the land. Good luck

Just from the pics it looks to be a well maintained car - with at least an aftermarket cat back on it. I agree it may be a bit high at $17K, but if it checks off all the boxes on your buying list, then it may be the right deal for you.

Good luck and I hope you'll find the C5 is a good car to own.

You'll be there in time for the end of the month deal... knock off at least another K...and that's if it's a 1 owner with all Maint records.

Great looking C5! Def high on the sell price, work em down or walk I'd say. I bought a 2001 C5 vert, black on black on black 3 months ago (best irrational decision I ever made). Clean car fax and 35k miles for $16,400 before taxes. Careful of kbb, pricing isn't so accurate.

Image 6 on this one looks to have some door alignment issues. Look how the bottom portion is sticking out a bit. Could be they just didn't close it well enough before snapping the picture, but that would be a turn off to me.

I would use this one as leverage on the other. Claim you don't like the mods the original one has and that it de-values the car (I see exhaust, front bumper screens, and painted calipers). You can say you don't know how the car was beat on and could need some restoration work. Then see if they will price match to the one at Frieling.

A little on the high side, but not bad. The car should be valued at around 16.5K. Offer 16K and see where you can negotiate a deal.

I do like how this dealer goes into intricate detail on their web site. Nice!

Car sounds solid. Best of luck!

well the dealer in Norman has basically let me walk he will not budge off the 17,000 price because they have only had the car right at a little over a week. the dealer in kansas just texted me and told me he is selling the car today. well back to square one for me.

I would say that the price seems a little high. I paid $17,400 this past February for my 03 Z06 with 45,000 miles. Bought from original owner - clean carfax. Has Chrome ZR1 aftermarket wheels and original Z06 wheels. Other than Vararam CIA and ZR1 wheels totally stock. The car also came with complete service history with receipts. I even have receipts for things as insignificant as windshield wipers. I know that now the weather is turning the prices seem to be going back up. Sorry not sure why the picture is so large.

Everyone has their opinion on pricing and what you should pay.

I probably paid a little too much for mine, but four years later I still have it, love it and don't really care.

My car checked off all the boxes on my list.

If the car in Norman does for you...

Good Luck!

Location, location, location. It's what they say about real estate, also applies to cars. What is available in YOUR location is what counts as does local pricing. IF you are willing to travel and actually LOOK at a car and are prepared to walk away after spending time and $$$ to go look, then there are cheaper cars out there.

If this car checks all your boxes and is relatively close to you, then I say it's a fair deal. Not a great deal or one you can come on here and brag about how you got a screaming deal. Look, it appears to be nice example and fits your criteria. Would it be even better at $16K, of course, but how much time, money and effort are you willing to go find another car at $16K or possibly $15K? You'll spend at least $500 traveling out of state to get a car, so I say this local buy looks pretty good.

Go test drive it, look it over good. If it feels right, get it. Who cares what I or anybody else paid, you get no extra points for beating my deal. Enjoy your car!
