Just sold my Bass boat. Sold my C4. Bought a C5. C5 Vs 17 foot Nitro with 90 Merc. C5 takes up less room and easier to move abut the garage. Don't have to hook up to the truck and haul down to a boat ramp to use. When finished, much easy to get home in. No loading on trailer and driving home , washing boat hull and trailer ,and backing trailer in the garage. Much better fuel consumtion with the boat avg about 4 miles per gallon at 3500 rpm ( about 30 mph ) to the C5s 25 mpg plus on the highway at about 70 mph. But, difference in maintenance cost between the boat and the car. Hmmmmmmmm. Boat much cheaper. Oil and Filter I just bought yesterday for the C5 was near 50 bucks. Actual maintenance cost for the boat for 3 years was maybe 50 bucks.

Yes and no.
The boat takes a LOT more work than the Corvette. I just sold mine (pictured below) and launching 10,000 lbs, 6-15 feet in the air, hundreds of times in a Poker Run on Lake Michigan requires pristine equipment.
In a car mishap, you have to survive the crash.
In a boat mishap, you have to survive the crash, AND survive drowning.
I am just starting to play with track cars, deciding on what I want to invest in, and they ARE just as much work as a boat; if you want to drive at 10/10ths.

Lord, NO MOAR BOATSSSSSSSSSS!! I'm designing a full blown race engine for a guy right that's supposed to be the nastiest thing in the 2.5L classes. Already got the 3.5L done, and after that we're working on the 6.0L 1,000 horsepower version.
This engine's basically been my life at work for the last 1.5 years or so. Full 2 stroke with a handful of patents for custom inserts for the boost and transfer ports.
Boats. Lol, yeah people who have money are into boats and their planes. $$$$$
I'd rather the C5 over a boat. Watching these guys do 100+ mph on the water and then take a 90° turn is just ridiculous.

Are you suggesting they handle like a boat?

My experience has been that boats are much more labor intensive and expensive than cars.
A wise man told me that if it "floats, flies, or f###s it is cheaper to rent. Boats float.
Recall a few years ago on a yachting forum in the off topic section, an owner of a 40 something foot sport fishing boat was asking about affording a Ferrari, and was questioning the basic maintenance of one. The comment back was something along the lines of an oil change is the equivalent of you running your boat for one hour. Always thought that was funny, except true.

Inherited my C5 about 4 months ago and I'm already around $6k into my "free" car. My boat wasn't too bad...after the initial cost and some minor electrical work I only had to pay my monthly slip fee of $200 for the 5 years I had it...however, it had twin Chrysler 318's (gas) and had two 75 gallon tanks and at my most efficient speed of 19 knots I could get about 10 hours on the water. Cost over $500 to fill her up. So many times we would just chill at the marina with yacht club friends and drink each others beer. It was also a nice escape from the teenagers, the wife and I would spend the night on the boat and watch movies just to get away. Best parent award right here.

Melting Slicks
I actually liked my boat a lot but named it the "hemorrhoid" because they are a pain in the a$$.

"Resto" haha - totally stealing that one to use with the wifey. LOVE it too...just a couple big expenses initially to get her street legal in VA but she's good to go now. Front end work, tires, high flow cats, detail, dyno/tune, stereo and shipping from TX. Can't wait to do some cruises with the Northern VA Corvette Club, maybe some shows and definitely some cruise ins.
