I think this happened to one of the first C6 ZO6's that hit the streets years back. There was a video; I think it was red.

Better a C7 (besides being ugly ) which can easily be replaced with an identical car, than a C5 that may be tough to find (I for example would only want another black on black 04Z).

Well it is ugly now. (I think the C7 is the horniest Corvette built to date) The cause was probably a mod gone wrong, lol. Love these I can do it better than GM backyard mechanics. (of which there seems to be no shortage of!)

If it was a Cruze it would have never made the news...

Man!! Glad he and his buddy made it out. I'd be interest to know the cause of the fire. Gas tank leak? They do occur on C5's (I had one).

Sucks it happened and glad they got out. Says he's going to get another sports car but steer clear of the Corvette.....well, his loss. Must not "really" be a Corvette guy then.

I carry a fire extinguisher in the car so hopefully it can stop the fire quickly. If you do carry one, make sure to get the right kind. Don't buy one designed to stop fire in your house. You need a Halon fire extinguisher.
Halon is a "Clean Agent." The National Fire Protection Association defines, a "Clean Agent" as "an electrically non-conducting, volatile, or gaseous fire extinguishant that does not leave a residue upon evaporation." Halon is a liquefied, compressed gas that stops the spread of fire by chemically disrupting combustion.

Smart move on his part to comment that he "May not look at another Corvette".

Could find some help in getting another one.

In a situation like this I imagine any fire extinguisher is preferable to none. "Oh, don't use that on my burning Corvette!! It isn't the right kind."

I suppose any fire extinguisher is better than none. You just hope that it is the right kind.
