Another Painting Insulator Question..
I bought a brand new hood insulator that is still in the box haven't taken it out. I am thinking of painting the logo. Since this is a new one would I still have to paint the insulator itself to paint the logo, or just go ahead and paint the logo? I was going to buy the decal for it, but thought painting it would be better. I did do a search and didn't find the answer I was looking for concerning a new insulator just cleaning the ones that have been on. Any info would be appreciated..

I had my wife paint the logo on mine, turned out fantastic. The hood liner really soaks up the paint, so I would recommend 3-5 coats of black high temp paint first, that way the colored paint won't need so many coats. I don't gave the pics on my phone but it is definitely worth the effort and was a fun project for the wife.
Never tried the decals, so I can't comment on that.
There are some old threads on the CF that give the exact paint colors to purchase. If you have trouble finding them let me know and I can probably come up with the links.

Lay down the base coats in black and then apply the color - it will end up being much easier.
