Default Tossing DRL fuse

Thinking of new cornering lights, and removing the DRL fuse. I sold Chevrolet for about seventeen years, I realize the safety in having the DRL lights on. What are the thoughts of my brothers here ? Also I see fancy light bulbs that are brighter, will they get hotter and damage the cornering lamps? Thank you

My thoughts are the DRL's are a safety item and I have no plans for removing them. Yes, there are other DRL lights you can use that will be brighter and cause less heat - check with some of our forum vendors for LED lights for that purpose.

I will look at some vendors, try and find optional lighting. Thanks Vetteman Jack

New corning lamp assemblies and LED's are the answer. Use either switch back LED's or the LED replacement for the stock DRL functionality. Either type LED will eliminate the heat generated damage to the lamp assembly. Several forum members (Radioflyer Innovations and JWM are a couple) sell complete kits.

I pulled the DRL fuse years ago when I changed out to clear corners. Didn't care for the appearance of the lights on a yellow car. If I'm driving during the day in a situation where the DRLs may be beneficial (weather, rarely for this car), I'll turn on the parking lights which effectively does the same thing plus illuminates the tail lights, or the fog lights alone, or the head lamps. On a fair weather day DRLs are not needed on a car you can see a half mile away.

With as dim as our DRL's are, they really aren't of any actual benefit.

I pulled my fuse a long time ago, haven't looked back. I also modified 2 of my other vehicles that used the headlights as DRL's because they wouldn't turn the tail lights on, but the DRL's were so bright that when it got dark you wouldn't realize that your actual lights weren't on.

I got lucky and found a switchback set someone was selling. Nice upgrade!
