Tire Choices (315's on rear????)
I have to get new tires on my stock Z06 rims.
I have a choice here and after reading alot of posts and ideas I have narrowed it down to two choices.
Fronts: Nitto Nt01 255/40/17
Rear: Nitto Nt01 315/30/18
Or
Fronts: Nitto Nt01 274/40/17
Rear: Same as above.
I drive my car on sunny days and to work on fridays, maybe put on 1000 miles a year give or take.
Any thoughts on these guys? The 315's on the back would be awesome but I don't want them to rub but some posters have had no issues.
thanks.

I got new tires this spring and went with the 275 up front. Lasted 2 weeks and less than 500kms -i just wasnt happy with the feel and look. I went to 255's and love them. The steering response is great and balance fantastic plus they look great and lots of grip. Im runnning NT05's btw with 295 out back in the 140 compound.

I went with the Nitto NT555 G2 in 275/40/17 up front and the Nitto NT05 in 295/35/18 out back. Please don't put 255s on the front of the stock rims. They are 9.5" wide and a 275 is the recommended tire for a 9" rim. Mine had 255s on it when I bought it and they looked horrible. The rims were sticking out past the tires and had bad curb rash. I had them repaired and painted before putting the new tires on.

It might depend on which tire you buy - but my 255 NT05's definitely cover the edge of the wheel. The rim protector edge would definitely do its job. Also they do not look much different than a 265 Michelin in terms of how it sits on the wheel. But most importantly IMO these feel *much* better than the 275.

Dont have a clue on the Nittos but I am running 275/35/18 front and 315/30/18 rear Falken 615k+ for autocross. Drive to track. Active handling no problem unless car get crossed up on track. The rear is 1 inch smaller than stock diameter.

What do you mean "unless car get crossed up on track"?

Ahh...got it. I never auto-x'd but road raced for six years. What you described with the AH is why I stuck with the stock 295 instead of going with the 305's I wanted.
