Body Side molding

I took them off my 99 a few weeks ago with fishing line. If you want to keep them or re use them or sell them BE CAREFUL not to actually saw INTO the BSM. Mine are damaged now in a few spots so now they're just mementos decorating my garage.
Got most of the glue off with patience and rubbing with my fingers. Theres a very small amount that will not come off the passenger side and some other areas where the paint difference is more obvious. Eventually when I get around to it I'll just use compound to even it all out but for now you have to be 5 feet away to notice.

Another thing to keep an eye out for is if at some time the door might have been repainted. I found out the hard way after I removed the driver side door molding and found not only a mismatch color but a Halo around where the molding was.

I like them, and as someone stated above, I think they make the car look like it's moving even when standing still, and to me, make the car look "Racier", or something like that.
PLUS, two times in the last month, I've come out of the store to find someone getting in their car next to me with their door sitting up against the BSM, instead of my door. I would rather pay the $75.00 to have the shop re-paint a BSM instead of quite a bit more dinero to do the whole door!

Actually when I was looking to buy a Corvette, BSM was one of the main factors to consider.
When I saw an ad, and the car didn't have BSM, I wouldn't even open the ad to read more about the car.
BSM makes the Vette look like it is moving, when it is still parked.
A great option to an already awesome vehicle.
Bob.

OK so to answer your question without getting into the BSM debate they are secured with an adhesive tape. I removed mine with fishing line used in a sawing motion. Applying heat carefully from a heat gun or hair dryer will speed up the process. As pointed out residue can be removed with any number of products on the market. I used WD-40 and it worked well.
Start with the short spear on the front fender. Then if there is any paint mis-match you can re-tape that short piece and stop, or at least you will know what will have to be addressed on the rest of the car.
Good luck.

IMHO, I like the clean look without them.

Melting Slicks
Years ago I bought a one year old C5 that the previous owner had added BSM. I removed it as soon as I got home. It came off easy.

Believe it or not BSMs provide better aerodynamics and down force, It was designed not for door dings, but to go faster.
read:

Not only do they make the car look so much better, they actually add to the high speed performance.

I saw the documentary on the Making of the C5. It wasn't on that car.
Ride height comparisons I did in parking lots.
"Better aerodynamics"? Did you read the part that said "Although not measured" in the article? Yet, I get accused of "fake news".

I spent two hours removing them and getting the glue off of my 02 Coupe. I had to put them right back on again. It looks like they were put on before the paint had dried and left a permanent imprint in the paint. Luckily I had some two sided tape and was able to put them back on again.

They are positioned at the level where most modern car doors will hit them.
Read the article again and you will find out what wasn't measured. All the effects of laminar flow. Assumptions were made based on other tests and common sense. Not fake news.
It's obvious you hate BSMs, but that does not mean everyone does. Half the people do like them.
