I ordered the Metra kit for my C5 and once I received the part and looked at the installation, I have decided to sell the brand new kit as I don't care for the fact that the ashtray door and cupholder door are missing with the Metra kit. I emailed Dennis at DoubleD and he answered all my questions I needed as I want it to look factory like it was done from the factory. He said it is 6 to 8 weeks and I am good with that as this is a 5th car for me. Don't get me wrong, the Metra kit is a very nice piece, I am just super picky about everything looking like it would have been a bespoke factory upgrade. If anyone is interested in the Metra kit, I am selling it at a reduced price since there are no returns from the seller on ebay where I purchased it from. Kit is brand new and still in the box.

For the Bose system you can use either the:PAC ROEM-VET1
or
Axxess XSVI-2004

Putting a Joying unit in the C5 with the Metra kit will ultimately require cutting up the kit itself, I could never get mine just right and it looked awful. I'm not a fabricator, just a regular guy so I took it all apart and went back to stock using a BT adapter and it works well enough. The Joying unit itself was good, the UI was nice and it could display the Chevy logo on startup.

I was curious about the brand infinitereality said he had and seen that. It's a single din, so you might not have to modify the bezel, but no telling how it would fit, look, and function.I just thought it'd be kinda interesting for someone that didn't wanna cut up their bezel if it'd work for a c5 at all.
Going to take the plunge and try one of these out. My expectation is that it will sit in front of the opening a bit, as the smallest unit (7") is still larger than the opening. I can live with that though, and my car is by no means a show car.

It will not fit without some sort of trimming - a normal 2 din radio fits exactly as one would expect, but these Joying units are not normal 2 din dimensions. Please measure twice and think about it, I ruined a $250 dash kit by winging it and I didn't even keep it all because it looked so bad.

I'm not getting a double DIN, I am getting one of those single DIN ones.

I'm happy with the fitment of mine. Just used a sanding wheel on my Dremel to take away some of the plastic on the right/left sides of it to fit the headunit. Just do a little at a time, was pretty easy and didn't take long.

I am looking at doing this kit this winter with a non-disc setup. I like the idea of adding a backup camera to my car even though it really isn't needed.

7" touch screen

Camera

Thanks for the write up. I was going to have Double D do mine, but I can't figure out what head unit I wanted, so I will be doing the cutting regardless.

That's an interesting 2DIN with the shallow mounting depth. I'll have to save the link as I'm extremely limited to what I'm able to fit in my SLC when I get to that point, beats using a tablet and getting everything working for car audio

I was going to have him mod the console, not put the stereo in. No offense to any shops, but I know how to put in a stereo. I also know how to mod a console, but my billing rate is higher than his.

As for the source unit, you know there is little to do with sound quality based on the source, right? As a matter of fact, I can run a headphone to RCA straight to my amp and the sound quality would not be noticeable between that and a $500+ Kenwood/Pioneer/Sony head unit. So a $69 source will be just fine (no discs needed). All it does is supply the bits to the amp.

There are a ton of sub $100 shallow mount sources available. That was just one of the ones I've been looking at. Once I get a console, I will actually pull the trigger. A stereo is just WAY down on my list of mods.

My only requirements are a **** (I'm old school when it comes to volume), touch screen, and at least 1080 resolution.
