Is a C5 worth $72,600? Answer: yes*
Of course there's a catch. It's been converted to look like a 1960 convertible:

I actually like it, though I wouldn't buy one myself. Interestingly, a real 1960 convertible sold on the same day for only $61,600:

Go figure.

Although it looks cool it is not worth $72K. But there are those guys at these auctions with very deep pockets that buy these kind of cars. Watching these guys at the auctions it is not always about the car on the block but who has the bigger bankroll to outbid the other guy. It becomes a pissing contest. Then it ruins the value of some of the original classic collector cars.

Worth.....is in the eye of the beholder.
So......as far as the value...........everybody is right.

To be clear, my response wasn't on the value of the car. It was on the car itself.

Obviously the rare, rare, rare engine pulled the car up that price!
American Racing Torq Thrust!!! To me, they are the official 60's wheel for a 60's Corvette!
Actually, it would not be a bad looking car if they could get the windshield upright.

Beautiful car and probably has a lot of money invested in it. Worth $72,600 - perhaps to someone but not an amount I would pay for the car.

I know the owner of that car... he wanted to buy a C7 but wouldn't entertain any trade-in offer that "wasn't six figures" because of what he had "invested" in it.
Yikes.

i have seen these car's in person way back when they were new at the corvette's on the rocky's and they do look pretty damn good in person i would never pay that amount for one...plus i would love to see the build process that went into these cars to see how much filler they used...just my own 2 cent's
