C5 Z06 Paint Tips
Hi I'm doing so paint touch up on a Z06 I recently bout and just want to make sure I am doing it right. I am buying the matching color in a can, a clear coat, and primer. I'm more concerned about sanding prep. From what I'm reading I sand to 400 to 600, then primer. Next wet sand primer to about a 1000. Finally paint and clear coat. Is this correct or any more tips. Thank you.

I know
Thank you to all who posted. I appreciate your input. However I am still going to do the work myself. I like to do things myself and don't really have or want to pay the money to take it to a shop. I already have the paint, primer, and clear coat. This is only a temporary job, and I will most likely have the car repainted totally in the future. Even if the paint does not turn out perfect, the only thing I will be damaging is the previously scratched off paint. The car can always be taken to a shop and corrected in the future.

Best wishes with your painting effort. As some have pointed out, it will be a challenging job, but you have some basic sanding input from Strangelove to get your started. Please post some pics when you've finished.

Lots of good videos on youtube showing you exactly how to touch up paint properly, including large sections.
