Default C6 Shifter to MTI or Kirban Shifter?

Who has either of these shifters? I do not like MGW at all. Had one in a previous car, too stiff, too much pressure to get in and out of gear etc.

I put in a new C6 Shifter from cultrag, put fresh fluid and did the Antivenom mod about a month ago. This is a night and day upgrade... but I still find 3rd gear to be a bit elusive on WOT redline shifts.

I need something better. Is the Kirban Kwikshift or the MTI six shooter the way to go?

Is the 2-3 shift precise?

i am running a ls7 clutch kit with a c6 shifter with a tick performance master and imo that is the best combo, shifts are amazing and spot on

C6 shifter internals are the same as the C5 - lever is different and bent back to move the **** rearward. The C6 **** is a nice piece, whereas the OEM C5 **** looks and feels like it came off a truck. I've tried a C6 setup, and as I am not tall, I probably sit a little further forward which means the "bent" C6 lever put the **** too far back. In the end I rebuilt the C5 unit, tightening everything up, shortening the shaft and adding a Hurst ****.

Best compromise for me - still light enough for two finger shifting, but positive, and looks a whole lot better than OEM.

I PROMISE!!! you the new design with the lower box will be smoother and less stiff than ANY other shifter.

If you had one it must have been an old model. WE literally sell 40-50 a week and have NEVER had someone complain about the new design with the billet box.

All this sounds too complicated. I just move the lever to D and press the accelerator.

That's what I do on my wife's car - an 8 speed auto does the job.

Place a copper washer on the detent bolt on the side of the transmission.
Makes for a little better, easier shifting.

If you don't like the MGW for being stiff then you'll hate the Kirban. Very stiff. Sold it.

I have the MTI and its similar to the MGW in feel.

I had a Kirban years ago on an 02 Z, and I really enjoyed it. Hard to beat the newest MGW with billet box though.

Bought an MGW for my car 3 years ago (lower box and all).

It was positive, but very firm. A bit more effort than I would have liked.

However, when compared to stock, it was VASTLY more precise. When compared with other shifters, the effort was actually very good.

Then I did the anti-venom mod.

It's about as perfect as you can get for these cars. The anti-venom mod is an absolute requirement. Just 1 copper washer was all it took to take the shifter from "good" to "great."

I'm with you on the stiffness of the MGW. I have to really pay attention when driving on the street it hold it left to hit 1st, instead of 3rd. With that said, once I installed it, I have never missed a shift while doing HPDEs. I would rather put up with a little more muscle use than being passed by a VW coming out of turn 7 at Road Atlanta because I was trying to accelorate while in 5th gear.

I purchased my 03 Z with the C6 shifter already installed. I'll never go back. If you are going to track your car, I'd stay with the MGW. You are not going to find a more precise shifter, even though it takes more strength to find first at a stop light.

Just my 2 cents.

Good luck.

If you haven't, do the antivenom mod. Much nicer to shift afterwards. It's the best $2 you'll spend on the car.

Same here for my KIRBAN. Once you learn the correct (Finger Tips/Palm Of Hand ) shift tehnique the spring assisted shifter will become invaluable.

Very easy to know exactly where the shifter is and where its going.
