Default Black Drilled/Slotted Rotor PICTURES Please

So I am in the market for rotors and pads (Brakemotive is the way I am probably going) and I saw they have black zinc coated rotors. I have seen tons of reviews about the standard silver colored ones as well as pictures, but I cannot for the life of me find pictures of the black rotors WITH THE WHEELS ON. I don't care how they look mounted on the hub... I can use my imagination for that. I am curious to see if I may like the black ones more than the regulars before I pull the trigger and purchase anything.

No such thing as black rotors. any coating on the fire path will be removed buy the pads.. however if you have 15 grand you can get some Cf composite rotors they are almost black.

You can get rotors with black Hats, but not the actual contact path.

These considered black "hats"? The black gets wore off when the pads are applied?

You didn't take the time to read the description? It says Black coating will be removed from the area in contact with the pads leaving the silver rotor. I'm not sure of the quality of these rotors but its a good idea to have everything coated to avoid as much rust as possible... However, the area in contact with the pads where the raw cast iron is exposed will rust immediately on contact with water. The rust will be removed on the next few cycles of brake engagement.
Good Luck

Not sure you understand.. rotors are cast iron , you can get them cryo treated , zinc, painted or powder coated... but once the coating is removed, ( usually takes a few hours of driving with moderate braking. ) Painted a powder coating fire paths can be very dangerous during the break-in period. Because that coating will load up the pads and reduce the frictional coefficient. IM just trying to help you... the fire paths, no matter what the original coat actually is , will not be any different from non coated rotors in this area.

here is a photo of my Baer Eradispeed rotors when I got them 80,000 miles ago and 14 years ago.

here is a photo of them today 14 years later with 80,000 miles on them.

Hope this helps you

I understand all that. I was wondering how the black rotors (even with the face of them not black) look behind a wheel.

Basically, the second "after" picture - I want to see that with wheels around it on a corvette..

That EBay photo is very misleading, but then EBay does this all the time.. that after shot is poorly lit on purpose to make it appear the fire path is dark, but in reality it is silver like any other rotor.. they even say that. EBay sucks when it comes to reality and have no problem stretching the truth to the limits.. if you read what they say < which incidentally your didn't do at all until I pointed it out and also in your reply here.. EBay uses photos because they know people who want something don't take the time to read the actual description. this is a legal scam.. ( The Photo ) it appears that even the after photos appears to be almost black but in the text says it is silver. Purposely done..

A rotor with black hats will look good on the car, the real issue is the quality of the rotor itself.

No track time but My Baer Drilled and slotted rotors are 14 years old and have 80,000 miles on them, No cracks. Baer sells lots of these 2 piece light weight high quality Australian cast iron with no fillers. but they are 1500 dollars not 200 dollars and we are not as dumb as we look... years of early life experience buying cheap stuff has brought me to the conclusion that I can not afford to buy anything that is cheap. It just cost too much. Most track members use cheap NAPA throw away rotors 50 dollars a piece. Last two or three track days, depending on events.

As in E.T.'s picture of 80,000 mile rotors....they are not cracked. I also have quite a few thousand miles on my drilled and slotted rotors without any cracks.

I bought the Brakemotive package. I painted and cleared the hats myself. It's only been a few hundred miles and a few months. So far, so good.

I don't plan on taking my car to the track, I'm just on the street. And from what I've read, the Brakemotive packs are sufficient, especially for the price. I wouldn't expect this package deal to last long on the track, by any means lol.

Thank you for the several different pictures everyone. They look nice, but not different enough in my opinion to spend $20ish extra for a little black hat on the rotor. If I decide later on that I want that black color to brake it up a little bit, I will probably do what BAT did.

FWIW, I have a picture (with wheels on) of how they came and with the painted hat. For me, I wanted the black hat because it looked "too chrome".

As they came:
