Default Anyone have a scissor lift?

Does anyone here have a scissor lift? Can you drive right over it? I dont want to put planks of wood down to drive over it.

Any details would help. I'm choosing between a scissor lift or a QuickJack.

BendPak MD-6XP 6,000 Lbs. Capacity (4 3/4" lowered clearance) $2300cdn

Atlas TD6MR 6,000 Lbs. Capacity (5" lowered clearance) $2600cdn

Ranger BL-5000 5000 Lbs Capacity $1800cdn

I have a Atlas 7000 drive over lift. The max platform height is 39 inches.
My brothers and friends have and I have pulled 3 drive lines out of C5's on this lift and numerous exhaust swaps. It was the best money on tools I have spent.

I did have to make a set of ramp extensions to get lowered cars onto the lift. They also make it easier to get the pucks under a non lowered car.

My C5 is lowered on stock bolts, no way would it every be able to drive over anything above 2.5" without damage. My C5 can't be lowered more than an inch so even if you are at stock height you not gonna clear 5" without boards

I have the Bendpak model you listed. It works great but I have ramps built to drive over it. My Z is stock height and it won't make it over the lift without the ramps.

Thought I would add a couple of pics of my lift in action.

Pulled the drive line to change the rear main on my brothers 2001.

Pulled the drive line to change the rear main on my brothers 2001. This is a view from the back after the drive line was puled out.

2011 at stock ride height. There is about .5 to .75 inches of clearance between lift and frame.

Center section is open between the platforms.

I think so, you would drop the drive line first (torque tube and rear end) then you could pull the motor either out the top or drop it from the bottom.

There is full access to both front and rear cradles with this lift.

I bought this used Rotary cantilever lift 15 years ago for $500. Worked great for changing the exhaust. Wood planks would make it easier to setup on some low though.

Lots of good info here. Are all these lifts 120 volts? I do not have 220 V in my garage.

Wood of any sort or another makeshift elevation device is nowhere near the safe practice nor convenience of a properly designed lift, especially if any big effort is require for the service/repair. Both my Vettes are low and making a simple step for drive-on/off is no big deal and I have the security of a solid platform to get under.

The KwikLift i bought from a forum member is not ideal but is a compromise ala other options, but beats then snot outta jackstands in all areas.
