So here recently, I been have a lot of issues with my rebuilt 4l60e, and I'm getting kind of restless for another manual car. The topic for today is, would it be worth it to go from auto to manual? I know it can be done and I know how to do it as well. I just want some second thoughts coming about.
I can't sell this one, due to I have alot of work into this one besides the tranny, like headlights, hood, interior, engine work, etc. As in expensive are you talking about the labor involved or just parts in general? I'd be doing all of the work.

Don't know how much engine work you're talking about, but the other stuff can be easily transferred over if you like it that way. Another vote to sell and buy a stick car unless you have serious motor work. What have you done to it?
I'm sure you could get all the parts you need from Marc at Vettenuts. If you can do your own wrench turning, I wouldn't think it would cost too much.
Give him a call.
check your knees twice before making this decision. Assuming you are an old guy, like myself, plus I live in a heavy traffic area, a stick is not a good call, in my area, generally.
I like it, but my joints are wearing out. I did a lot of shifting in my younger days, and kept it up through the years. .
I have done this. Extremely pleased with the results. The high level view is:
Total parts cost - $8,000 (95% were new because I track my car)
Total physical hours - 28 (This was done by my Corvette Engine builder. and myself in his shop.)
Been done but is a very expensive option over just moving to a car that was born as a manual.
not as expensive as you think...my brother just converted his 02 z28 from a t56 to a fully built 4l80e and it runs amazing...granted he did all the work him self but i think he was into the whole project for less then 1500 bucks

I'm 59 and have had my left knee replaced TWICE! There's no way I would ever go back to an automatic in a vette. I say, put that manual in!

I'm 22 I got some time before I have to check them, also I don't drive this as a a daily, it gets around 10-14 mpgs
I say go for it, if you want the manual. I have swapped it over in a couple of stangs before, but not a vette. Hardest part is setting aside the time and getting started. Really not that bad. I prefer manual, but the auto will be more consistent at the drag strip.....
M6 C5's are plentiful...unless you have some specific reason to hang on to the car you have, you'd be better off selling it and buying a M6 car.
I searched for months for an M6 coupe in a 400 mile radius. Only came across one that was a 200K+ mile rebuilt title car for $12K. So I settled for mine having everything I wanted, including color, except in an auto. I will have to swap it eventually, I can't stand driving automatics.
