Default Inspections

I'm just asking this as I saw in another thread that a member's C5 qualified for collector insurance and got me thinking about collector/classic car status as our cars are getting up there in age. I'm in Canada and in a province where there are no inspections required to register a car and no emissions tests etc. so forgive me if I don't know much about these rules. Around here, the classic car age is 25 years and has to be driven less than a certain number of miles a year.

I did some light googling and noticed that some states only require cars to have no CEL's to pass inspection if they are less than than a certain number of years old. I couldn't find much about cars older than that. For those of you who live in states that require inspections, are inspection rules different for classic/collector cars?

Yeah some states are more lenient on old cars as far as smog I believe, but I could be wrong. But I think that applies more to non computer smog controlled cars not just because a car may be older. If they've got the equipment you cant just take it off and say ok my cars now just old. In Louisiana its basically to make sure safety stuff works, horn, lights, etc.

If your asking if you need to get emissions checked for collector car insurance, the answer is no, no inspection needed.
I have collector car insurance on my 02 C5 and my 91 Eagle Talon TsiAWD. I have it through the NCM insurance company. I did not have to have an inspection done, I just had to send them allot of pictures showing all sides, engine bay, and interior. It was a painless process.
