Corvettes and Cannabis

Safety Car
I will say if the DOT ever takes it off the random I will smoke it. Just not drive under the influence. In my personal vehicles or work truck. But anyone with A CDL can not pass a random or post crash if smoked in the last few weeks. So I don't ever smoke it. But it would help with a chronic problem I have. And I would get more sleep making me a safer driver when not high.

I don't have to do drugs. Every time I start up the car, am already high with euphoria at the joy of driving this beauty. Being stoned would actually detract from enjoying that drive. (I would keep thinking "got to eat something"

Ok - you keep ignoring arguments supported by evidence and then come up with zero support for what you are saying other than your THC induced imagination.
I guess the fact that you don't have a vette means there's less possibility you'll total one when your wasted on weed, so I suppose that's a good thing.
So go roll a fat one, take a few puffs, and give us some more of your mental diarrhea.

Better to post no supporting evidence than posting the untrue garbage you posted...you obviously don't know what you're talking about so why don't you go **** up a rope?

Really?
This thread has to be top three of the most ridiculous topics I have ever read on this forum. The concept of associating any type of drug use with operating a motor vehicle is not something that should even be remotely entertained by Corvette Forum, and I'm surprised this useless thread has been allowed to go on for even a few days. I'm not even capable of offering up any additional opinions on this topic. The vapors from the cyber weed being smoked in this thread have killed my brain cells. This thread is such a fail.

The guys that get me are the ones who act like they know everything about pot because they've read a few studies about it, but have no actual experience with it...I can tell you that my experiences with it don't coincide with the findings of the studies posted in this thread...I have found that most studies conducted on pot usually conclude what the originators of the study want it to conclude, in other words, if they are anti-weed to begin with, their studies will show all negative results. This is why I take all studies on MJ with a grain of salt...

Cool concept assuming no consumption is going on and it is just people with a commonality (I have never seen anyone drinking coffee at cars and coffee).
You have to remember the demographic you are asking this question to. Most of the people on this forum grew up watching the Reefer Madness video. They believe marijuana causes white woman to go crazy and sleep with black jazz musicians and it also makes Mexicans go on murder sprees.

Drugs?
I dont even consider Cannabis a "drug" rather an herb. How many old guys on here have chronic pain conditions and are taking opiates and driving? If you do and you are blasting "pot heads" with "thc imaginations" you might be hypocritical. I am not trying to be nasty, just saying, its not that dangerous a substance and if you think it is youve been brain washed.

...That would be a great "scared-straight" lesson to teach the kids;
If you smoke pot sonny-Jim, you will end up sleeping with a black jazz musician...and let me tell you, you won't walk right for about a week and all of your farts will be accompanied by some leakage.
Keep that up and after awhile you will end up spending more money of depends adult diapers than on weed. After a few years, Mr. jazz musician will leave you high and dry (all puns intended), and all you will have are clouded memories, stained underwear and a butt-hole the size of the Lincoln Tunnel...all because you wanted to smoke pot!
Now, be a good boy and go get daddy a beer from the icebox.

DUH ... definition = A drug is any substance (other than food that provides nutritional support) that, when inhaled, injected, smoked, consumed, absorbed via a patch on the skin, or dissolved under the tongue causes a physiological change in the body

Opinions rule!
So, in a different life, I was one of those Drug Recognition Experts (DRE) and a DUI/DWI experts.
Here's what I "know";
-Driving under the influence of any mind-altering substance (including, but not limited to; Rx) can and eventually will lead to you being arrested for driving under the influence - or injured/dead in a motor vehicle accident. It's simply a gamble.
Additionally; even though the vast majority of traffic accidents I have worked were ETOH related, there have been a significant many that involved other drugs, but none that "I" Have worked involved Mary-J. Mostly prescription drugs, meth and various date rape drugs.
-With the myriad of developed strains of Mary-J out there in today's world, it is absolutely possible to obtain a strain that provides you with the effects you are looking for, but allows you to function 100%...and if you were pulled over - it would take a VERY good DRE Officer to catch it. Add the fact that Mary-J does not register on a breathalyzer, and several states are now saying that a Blood or Urine draw violates HIPAA and will no longer allow LEOs to administer such tests...you can see the loopholes forming.
-I do not condone driving under the influence of anything.
-Do I smoke weed? No.
-Am I against weed? No. I think it has tremendous benefits for countless reasons - especially PTSD!
-Do I drink alcohol? No...but I used to and I am a recovering alcoholic...sober now for 10 years.
-Am I against drinking alcohol? No.
Here's what I "think";
-I think that on the level of seriousness; driving under the influence of alcohol is worse than driving under the influence or Mary-J. HOWEVER, "tolerances" in both cases are specific to the individual and said individual (depending on food consumption, sleep, mindset, etc.) is different from one day to the next. There is no scientific measure to capture individual behavior/reaction to various substances introduced to the body at any given time. Hell, the solar eclipse will probably cause more traffic accidents on that day than will Mary-J for all we know.
-Am I a Hypocrite? No. I have changed many of my personal beliefs throughout my life, based on knowledge and experience, but that does not mean I am better or worse than anyone else.
-Is there anything inherently wrong with a "Corvettes and Cannabis" club? No...I do not believe so. Just the same as there is nothing inherently wrong with a Motorcycle Poker Run where the consumption of alcoholic beverages usually occurs.
*Everything should be taken in moderation and considerable thought should be taken when engaging in activities that when, associated with other activities - could lead to disaster. Back in the day, it was quite common to spend some off time with my Marine brothers and sisters and down a few barley-pops, and shoot off a few rounds...but everyone knows that inebriation and firearms tends to be a deadly mix...same with vehicles.
Opinions and differences are great! Otherwise, threads like this would be boring.
It is my humble opinion that we all need to exercise a tad bit more open-mindedness and even though we might not accept another's ideas as our own - entertaining other's ideas shows our level of intelligence, humanness and willingness to grow within the self.
A "Corvettes and Cannabis" group is no more out-there than a "Corvettes and Prairie-Dogs" club...which I happen to think is okay too. I stop at an intersection here in Santa Fe every day going to work and look at a field of baby prairie dogs doing there thing...while in my Corvette.
...good discussion, good arguments, good debates!

On a different note...
I have worked 24+ hours straight, drove home, and been just as effected as if I were Under the Influence with drugs and/or alcohol.
Don't know where this fits in but just sayin'
