Never been before. Any advice? What should I expect? Those that have been, tell me about your experiences with hotel lodging, parking at the events, etc. Not sure how to navigate around there if I go, but I guess I'll figure it out...

TIA

Lots of walking. A lot of very friendly and very talkative corvette owners. If you bring your vette you'll park next to people that will definitely be careful around your ride. Lots of vendors and lots of beautiful corvettes. Some for sale.

If you haven't rented a room, try outside of carlise especially Harrisburg maybe 30 minutes outside of Carlisle. I go with my best bud and we both have a great time and he doesn't even own a vette!

You should expect to come home with less money in your pocket.

If you didn't pre register you can forget about parking in the Fun Field.
Plan on parking outside the fairgrounds in one on many small "Park Here" for $20 or $30 private owned lots. I usually park across from Gate 3 in a Church parking lot. They charge 20 bucks for the day.

1. Wear comfortable shoes, bring an extra pair if you can.
2. Rain gear just in case, hat, sun screen.
3. Pen and note book to write prices and location of a vendor who may have what your looking for ( you will be able to find the cheapest and their location)
Most of all enjoy all the people with a common interest in our cars.

Expect to be overwhelmed by the "MOD SQUAD". Along with some interesting things it's mostly about marketing aftermarket bolt on "improvement" and a few owners wanting to sell proper used oem parts. Personally I get entertainment and identify what to not do to my Corvette! You'll get an opportunity to hear loud mufflers, see some burnouts and meet people who want to be seen. LOOK AT ME, I HAVE A CAR, I am very cool. Have fun!

It's a crowded exhibition for exhibitionists and those who care to watch and spend money, after all, it's all about money there.

If you don't have a room by now its probably too late. My first time (2y ago) I camped nearby (link at end). That year I was in my 4runner as I knew I was going to bring wheels home with me - parked near the Fairgrounds Diner (I think at the fire station nearby) and walked in. The following year (in my '00 FRC) I drove into the fairgrounds (no fun-field reservation) but was still able to park in the vette-only area. BRING COMFORTABLE SHOES as you will do a lot of walking. Also those "wicking shirts" really do work! Make time to talk with the vendors - they are typically very nice and also very interesting people. I was ripping through a pile of front springs at the end of a very warm day and after finding a Z51 (with free-turning bolts!) the guy gave me $25 off what the tag said plus a cold water. I didn't do the parade (overheating stories), and the band downtown was "OK" (this year will be looking for an air-conditioned bar showing the fight). Some of the seminars were interesting - but most geared towards the newer models. Also stop in at the Al Knoch tent - watching those guys overhaul interiors is just amazing. I spoke with one guy who had a late-50's vette and he trailered it there just to have his interior redone. Its definitely a one-of-a-kind event. Also - at the end of the day - if you head South on Carlisle Spring Road you can hit some major traffic at the Hanover Street merge - hopefully Pitt St will be a reasonable alternative....

BIG event! If you are a vette guy, or gal, you need to go at least once. Lots to see and do there. I'll second on the comfortable shoes, pretty fair amount of walking. There are food vendors there but a canteen or some kind of small backpack with some food and drink is a good idea. I lived fairly close by so can't comment on the accomodations angle. Just my opinion but a truly worthwhile event to attend. I'm sure you will have a good time!

I believe you can go thru the Carlisle visitor's bureau for a room. I'm sure there are some available still. Call them about getting a fun field pass if you're coming in a Vette. There's plenty of room on the hill.
THEN, come up and see us on the AutoX track!

Got a room in Harrisburg. Coming from 4.5 hrs away (zip 21817), a half hour drive to my hotel is livable. I don't mind the drive. Gives me a chance to drive my car some out on the open road.

Yes, unless something weird happens between now and then, I plan on bringing my vette.

Would be VERY interested in this "fun field pass" you spoke of. What exactly is it?? at what cost? haha and how do I get it?

P.S. THANKS guys so much! for the responses. Keep 'em comin'...

The fun field pass lets you park on premises. The place is so big I can't conceive you not having a place to park. How many days you staying? I'm staying just over nite, but with the cost of $20-30 to park outside, I'd rather pay the $75 and relax.

Admission for 2 people and parking on premises for the entire weekend. Well worth the $$$.
I'll be at the AutoX Friday morning and if I get lucky I'll be parked at my club tent near the main gate. Here's my id:
