Trade '00 C5 for '05 C6???

The best thing you can do is go drive a C6. I own an 03 Z06 and drove my brother's 13 Grand Sport for a week. I was happy to get back into my Z. The differences weren't enough for me to want to go into debt.

I bought a brand new 2005 Z51 6 speed in 2004. It was an electrical nightmare that ended up being a GM buyback. Avoid the 05. Bought a 2006 Z06 and had zero issues.

I don't know what the book value is in your location, but my best friend bought an 05 c6 last week from the original owner. Crammed, and tuned with 500 horse and 50k miles for $18.5k. Came with all maintenance records and all mods done under warranty & such. Immaculate car. But that price seems to be in the going range in my area - ~$20k

Edit: was thinking ls1 for some reason.

Im in the same boat, starting to grow tired of the c5, I either need to mod it or move on...but when I do it will most likely be a c7 . If I was going for a c6 it would be a GS centennial edition...I also agree the non wideboody c6s look too plain and the 08+ is definitely a better choice with the ls3...looks like the older c6's are depreciating fast now, so unless you flipped it quick, I think its a bad buy unless its a keeper...my 2 cents.

So I have expanded my search parameters a bit and found a nice 2012 C6 with the LS3 and 6 sod. 54k miles for $27,000.

Trust me....I've had 'em. A '92 and two '96s. They were neither sleek nor modern. They were my first vettes though....and I loved them.

The wife and I have both a C5 (my toy) and her C6 (splits daily driver duties with her '07 GT)
That being said I like just about everything about my C5 better then her C6 except the extra 55 hp, that does come in handy on beat runs LOL and 2/10's faster in the 1/4. That being said I will upgrade the C5 down the road for only a C6 GS/Z06 or possibly a nice used C7 if I can save that much more when the time comes, my biggest gripe about the C6 is opening the doors from the outside, seems like you can never get them to pop open the 1st time.

My Dad has an 06 Z06 and 11 CTS Coupe-both use those door handles.
You will never see any GM car with those door handles in a movie where the action star has to run to the car and make a quick get away. The damn door handles slow them down too much.

The C7 is far too flashy for me, I'd take a C5 or C6 over one.

The C5's were IMHO a big upgrade over the C4's in terms of ride and mechanicals.
The C6 over the C5 is more incremental.
Both are beautiful. Of course the C5 is prettier.

I have a few friends with C5's and own a C6 currently. A few gripes mentioned definitely make sense but a few can be taken care of. Opening the door from the outside has never been on issue on my C6 as it opens on the first try. I believe you may need a replacement pad on your door pull if you are having issues. The C6 stereo are all outdated at this point in time. The factory NAV screen is laughable and I never used it at all. I would say its pretty much useless. The best part of the NAV was the HUD integration. If you are a bigger guy the C6 has a lot more interior space than a C7 so thats something to keep in mind for future upgrades. At 6'3 I was VERY claustrophobic in a C7. Forget getting in there with a helmet.
