NEW Overhead Rattle
I just got a new annoying rattle in my car. It seems to be above the passengers head coming from the plastic interior halo or whatever it is called. I wanted to learn how to correctly remove it before I pull and break something. Any other ideas where to start looking?

Of all things, I too had a BAD rattle coming from the same area. It drove me crazy.
Turned out to be that the visor was not all the way in the snap connector. Pushed it in, all great now.
Maybe you will be that lucky.

I had the same, turned out to be the top. the way I chased it down took it foe a ride and stated to push down on things, the last thing I did was to open the window and pull down on the front corner of the top and that did it. 10mm wrench pull back on the cover where the latch attaches just enough to get the wrench in and loosen both bolts and adj. as needed.

It's definitely coming from the plastic headliner on the passenger side. Is not always present, but when it is I can push up on the plastic and stop the rattle.

Mine was doing the same thing, made my virtually new looking car sound old. Drove me crazy. I checked to make sure nothing was out of place last night, then I just hit the spots where the interior panels meet with a very light spray of silicone spray lube, especially at the fasteners. Five minutes into a ride afterwards and she sounded as new as she looks again. I don't know if this is a semi-permanent fix, but it certainly has worked for now.

In another thread, Gary suggested that spraying any kind of lube in there might not be a good idea. He suggested using strips of self adhesive felt in the joints where the body panels meet. Might be a better idea

I didn't care for the thought of any kind of spray lubricant dripping down on my seats and running down the door panels.

I have had this in previous cars. It turned out that I had items in the glovebox or other "cubbies" with item...sunglasses, tire pressure gages, etc.... Be sure to remove all loose items before tearing headliners' etc. apart.

If it's in fact the Halo then chances are at some time it was removed and reinstalled with the worn "Christmas Tree" fasteners. thos little tabs tend to brake and not hold the halo tight against the B Pillar.
If I remember correctly there's 6 of those fasteners.
get some new ones and you'll be rattle free.
