Default run flat tires or not?

my 2004 Coupe does not have run flat tires. As you might have seen from my previous posting, I have purchased new wheels for the car and am in a mental debate about just buying new tires, or using what are on it. I drive the car once or twice a week for pleasure during the summer only! I'm leaning towards buying new run-flats either the OEM Goodyears or Michelin. What are the thought here?
Thanks

Run flats will be a lot less comfortable ride. There's no way I would put them on my 2000, but to each their own. Run flats do give you the security of knowing you wont get stranded.

Unless you have a blowout, then you are in the same boat as non flat users.

That's the thing; run-flat or not if you have a blow-out or serious sidewall damage you're going to be on a flat bed regardless. I simply carry around a small 12v compressor. Any tire that has a leak or small puncture can simply be aired up enough to get to service.

Just get a 12v compressor and up your AAA membership. The ride improvements alone are worth ditching the run-flats.

Mine had brand-new Michelin Pilot run-flats when I bought it. Like the "security", hated everything else about them.

I now run Michelin Pilot Sport SS's, and love them, quieter, better grip, etc...

I just keep my eye on them, like a good Corvette owner would.

If you do go run-flat, Michelins are about the least annoying (except for the price).

I really considered run flats too, and still might someday, but for now, I've become "comfortable" just carrying a plug kit, compressor, and CAA (Canadian AAA LoL).

I went with G-force comp2 A/S for my C5. It had run flats that I didn't like the feel of. As other do I carry a plug kit and compressor and roadside assistance. I am running 18/19 sizes.

Its my DD rain or shine.

I have the Michelin pilot super sport NON run flats on my c5 , they give a nice ride. i cant speak to how the run flats feel on a C5.

I carry a small cigarette lighter powered tire inflator in the car as a back up and my AAA card and will now add a repair kit

Non runflats aren't for everyone.

The best improvement by far I ever made on my C5 was to get rid of the runflats.

There may be some uneducated responses when it comes to run-flats

New Michelin run-flats are great, including the ride and give me peace of mind. It's easy to say I carry repair kits and pumps, etc. as long as you never have to use it.
If you don't mind repairing a tire on the side of the highway in the evening then go for it. Michelin's by the way are not that much more then most non run-flats. Maybe around $200-350 total, which is not much more after loading your trunk with all of the repair kit stuff you need to buy and carry.
I believe most on this forum disagree with me on this subject, but you asked for opinions so that's what I gave you!

They ride like crap and are not cheap and can still leave you on side of the road ,but if in the middle nowhere can get to somewhere . A bud got a flat in the middle of nowhere years back the run flats did get him to a safe place . I hope this helped .. How do you drive were do you drive ,do you mind paying the extra money and they don't ride as good as no -flats .. So its up to you ...

Run flats, would never think of Goodyear though. Michelins vs Goodyear, like night and day.

Regular tires make the ride so much better.
