Default #15 Aztec Gold C5 was present at Carlisle

I can see why GM canned this color. Depending on how you looked at it and at what angle, each body panel looked a different shade of Gold.

It makes for an interesting conversation piece but I don't think I'd want to be seen In that car . The color is hideous on a corvette . Just doesn't do it for me

Different strokes, for different folks. I like that color.

I'd rock this color, and the purple that is also rare.

Probably best to see in person before making an opinion.

Despite any particular opinions on the car itself, people are always talking about modern collectable Corvettes and if there ever was one this would probably be it. Pretty much every Aztec Gold C5 was optioned with something that made it glaringly stand out such as the magnesium wheels this one has. They've also been relatively good buys all things considered, as the last two I remember seeing sell in the past decade sold well below $30K.

Paint technology has come a long way since '97/'98 twenty years ago. With computer controlled paint matching and depth measuring it would be much easier to make a uniform gold metallic color if it were a real quality paint job. From what I have read the largest issue at the time was the fascias and fenders due to their RIMM urethane construction.

I really like how early C5s got all sorts of colors; medium purple metallic, fairway green, aztec gold. There's a lot of great early colors that don't get enough love.

IIRC, they were made in 3 different batches too. So there are 3 different production shades of Aztec Gold.

I saw one of the Aztec Gold cars at Kerbeck's back in 2009. I thought the color looked great on the car and it was too bad GM couldn't get a consistent color match.

Back at the 2003 50th Anniversary celebration in Bowling Green, I was walking around the parking area and I saw a Aztec Gold coupe being carefully wiped down by its owner. Turned out the owner was Troy Roberts, one of the CF founders.

Recently, I was watching an episode of Iron Resurrection on Velocity and they painted a 1935 Chevy with a color call Candy Root Beer. The car was stunning. I usually don't get too exited about different colors but this one was amazing. Wonder what it would look like on a C5???

I was parked 4 cars to the left of it. Nice car and rare. Rare but not that desirable. Kind of like 3 speed manuals, and radio delete cars in the 60s.

Awesome color, those are the cars you don't drive and leave in a temp controlled garage.

I kind of like it. There was a similar C3 color, Aztec bronze I believe it was called.

That said, I wouldn't pay a crazy premium for a aztec gold C5, even if they are super rare.

I remember seeing this exact car! I had just graduated high school. My friends all lived near the museum and, of course, all wanted corvettes so we wondered around at all the big corvette meets in town. I wanted either aztec gold or magnetic red. fast forward 14 years and I finally got that magnetic red!

Actually, the, paint onthat car is pretty good. The others in the run, not so much. It was part of the McDormand collection back in the day, and it IS very collectible. It's very much not for sale at this point. You can see it at the same place,at Carlisle every year.
