Limited Production C5 Corvette Gets Trashed in France

Chevrolet didn't make a lot of RPO Z18 versions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans Commemorative Edition C5 Corvette. Now it seems there's one less of them on the road.

So far it looks repairable.

With the C5 prices still kinda high in Europe that seems like it might be a candidate for repair.

Since they only made 46 of these the insurance value may be enough higher that it will cover repair. Except for the carbon fiber hood and different paint job my understanding is everything is "standard" so parts should be available. Still a bummer to see it broken like that.

"According to one witness, the driver who was on board reported a mechanical problem causing her loss of control.” is what the article states. That translates to "There was a nut loose on the steering wheel" if I'm not mistaken.

That's a shame - car got banged up pretty good.

Just color, stripes, caliper color and such....only visual add on's.

Didn't have the LS6 like I guess the American ones did.

It's very unfortunate for the accident and fortunate the driver is ok, but more than that I'm fascinated that I did not know about this option. I didn't realize that there was a Commemorative Edition car that's effectively similar to the Commemorative Z06 but not actually a Z06 - and it's export only.

Yeah and only 40somthing made. Carbon fiber factory hood is pretty freakin' rare on a C5.

Realize, we are not all equal in net worth. $1,000,000 is chump change to some folks. In the Kissimmee auction today, a seller turned down $6,100,000 for a rare Ferarri. High end collectors pay huge prices to sooth their egos. One guy bouhgt a Ford pick, up to support a charity, yesterday and then donated it back and it resold today.
