cool thanks. Prob ordering a set after bonus time. I love the gun metal look and they have a couple different gun metals.

[QUOTE=workmanw;1595593888]I wanted something different and subtly wild. At first glance they look like C5 Z06 wheels, but up close they have some nice detail. I like the current style of mono colored wheels, but I felt that the pewter needed a touch of chrome, plus I like a lip. Lastly I didn't want black, but I wanted contrast. I had a set of gun metal wheels before these but they were almost the same color as the car, these a brushed black. The pictures don't really capture the color, sometimes they look almost bronze.
Those wheels look really nice! What are the wheels, tire sizes and offsets?

So....... You observe you don't like the weight of the Ruff 954's, and include pictures of his car, with them on.
Why are pictures of my car included/involved in your observations in this post?

Chasboy, looks great...I have a Pewtwr '00 Vert with the same wheels. What did you pain the barrels with? Black I assume but what brand of paint, brush, spray, roller?
Thanks,
Mark

Mine were pitted/watermarked. I experimented with a few different abrasive wheels on my angle grinder and found the Scotch Brite wheel with impregnated grit to be the most effective. Second was the nylon ‘brush’ types. Wire wheels were worthless.
I scarred the entire inner barrel with the aforementioned wheel, then gave it a thorough wipe down with Simple green then denatured alcohol.
I masked off all the areas that I did not want to get paint/overspray on.
I first used 2 coats of an automotive self-etching primer.
Because it’s clear I then did 2 coats of grey wheel primer.
Then 2-3 coats of pewter, until I was happy with the coverage.
Finally 2 light coats and one medium coat of clear gloss wheel paint.
Because of the spokes, it’s Still hard to get my hand in there but whatever I use to clean the barrel works great and I don’t have the watermarks showing up. I spent one afternoon fooling around with one wheel, getting my process down and then did the remaining 3 the next day.
It was worth the work.
I really wanted the barrels to be visible, but unless I went with a bold color, nothing really gets noticed often. I did consider black, but as I said..
I’ve been thinking of replacing them with something simpler to work on, but wheels require work no matter what, so I’m remaining on the fence.

Another vote for the high shine Z06's!
I like the looks of mine also (though not as well), but I find that the new rims stiffened up the handling a bit. My 01 isn't quite as nimble with the bigger, color-matched Ruff Racing aluminum rims.

I usually hand polish them with Wenol metal polish and I use old sweat socks which I save because they make great polishing rags. I also will use the Mothers cone shaped wheel polishing foam thingie in a drill. For washing the wheels I use Eagle1 A to Z wheel cleaner because it works well and will not harm polished wheels. However because I wanted to try selling them I took them to a place in Bath, PA called Wheel Collision Center where they completely reconditioned the wheels front and back. Cleaned up all the bead edges, cleaned the inners and repolished the wheels to look brand new. And they look it in person, like I just bought them. I would like to buy something new but I need to sell these first.

I think about selling mine too, but I keep getting complements on them, and even using that app to visualize what a different wheel would look like I can’t make a decision. I favor the ‘cup’ wheels and c6 spiders, which are not in the app. Still chrome, but in c5Z sizes however.

I have chrome C6 Z06 wheels on my Navy Blue C5 coupe and get lots of compliments. You can still get them at West Coast Corvettes, and relatively cheap - under $1k.
