Keep Ti with bypass mod or switch to corsa extremes?
Hey Gang,
I can't decide if i want to take the plunge and switch out my Ti's with bypass mod to Corsa Xtremes.
My Z has a mild cam, LTs, catless x pipe, intake.
It's amazing how with my mods above, i can barely hear any exhaust note inside the cabin while cruising. Only when i stomp on it after 3k rpm that i hear my exhaust and it's subtle to say the least.
But after taking the video and hearing the car from the back, it definitely has a nice bark to it.
I searched youtube for cammed z06s with corsa extremes and i love the how this exhaust sounds at idle and WOT.
So the question is, if anyone did the switch was it worth it?

I think it sounds awesome. Your plate is pretty great too.

I've got experience with both exhaust setups on HCI cars and I can tell you that the Corsa Extreme is much louder than the bypass mod and I love it! No drone with the Corsa that I've experienced, and it sounds amazing at WOT.

I gotta say it... if it's not broke, don't fix it. Really sounds good the way it is, and the stock Ti is as light as it gets. I've got Corsas myself, and love them, but if wasn't for the Daytona tips,(first time I saw the big ovals I had to get them) I'd put the stock bypass Tis back on. Unless you can find some nice used ones, that $1000 will buy you some other nice mods.

I had a Corsa Pace Car with LT's and catless X. It was mellow/quiet at cruising speed/mild throttle but when you planted your foot it was pretty obnoxious/unrefined sounding. I ended up buying a B&B Route 66 setup and I love it, sounds throaty/mean at lower RPM and has a nice refined sound through the higher revs. I think a Corsa Extreme on a LT/catless setup is going to be quite loud. I think Corsa sounds great when cats are in place, without them it's pretty sloppy/unrefined sounding. If you want loud and are running without cats then I would go with Borla Stingers or B&B Bullets.
And..... BTW, you car sounds absolutely awesome in it's current configuration!!!!

It appears I have the space to make it work, so I'm in the fitment stages as we speak. Trying to determine the path of least resistance.
I currently have BB bullets (quad) on x pipe and longtubes...I love it...I just want to play with some options since they are sitting here.

I have tuned cars with all of them and nothing is better the the Ti with the bypass! Although this is just my opinion. I love the way mine sounds now with 618rwhp its flat out wild at 7500rpm.

I'm working on three different options at the moment. I have one full set of Ti's, then I have a set of mufflers cut just behind the IRS but don't have the front section of the pipe. I'm doing some mockup on that first to execute an idea I have.

Well, the point is somewhat self explanatory I'd think. Do a double bypass, one to each outlet pipe/tip, coming from the inlet, further reducing backpressure, further increasing audible output, but yet still obtaining some sound reduction.

Ti flows beautifully...next to aluminum, I don't think there is any material I enjoy more.
I only decided to do it for the hell of it. I have the Ti sitting there...why not. I love the bullets, but if I do a full bypass Ti, yet retain the cans, they act as a frequency cancel, so the drone shouldn't be there. I'm going to mod the tips too to stick them out further like the BB's do. Next I am going to do a frequency interrupter for my bullets to eliminate the drone on those, I've done the frequency cancellation calculations, so I am going to work on that in another thread.
Just playin around in the shop...I have to tools and ability, so why not. I'll start a thread once the Ti's are done, I've been out of the shop for a couple days. You may be surprised by what I do though.

OP, I think your car sounds great! I actually have the same setup...cam + LTs + O/R X + Modded Ti. Sound is super subjective but in my opinion modded Ti exhaust (with headers) is the best sounding exhaust you can put on a C5, period. I understand what you say when you want a little more sound at cruising speed but I've come to appreciate that as my other car is the opposite and it gets old very quickly. The modded Ti exhaust with headers is deceptively loud. Inside the car I think it's quiet up to 3,500rpm then loud as hell from 3,500rpm on but from the outside it's always loud despite not always seeming that way when driving it. The Corsa Extremes sound good at idle and WOT but I think they sound too raspy and blatty when driving normal (reminds me of the raspiness of an Terminator with full exhaust) which you may like or may not. Before switching I would see if you could track someone down local that has headers and Extremes so you can hear it in person.

I have LT's, hi flo cat x, and ti bypass and I love the sound of it. Just a bit louder under 3k and cruises with zero drone. Screams really nice from 3k - redline.

Appreciate all of your inputs. I agree, it's best if i hear Extremes in person and even go for a ride in the car with them before making this purchase.
As a side note, i decided to spend $ elsewhere and purchased BTR stage IV cam kit!
