Good thing I checked
So I decided to check the date codes on my 99 which I've only had for a few months..02,03 holy canoli...time for new tires..and these things look practically new, only 30K miles on them. Going with
BFGOODRICH G-FORCE SPORT COMP-2. Can't do the wheels yet..ski season approaches and I need new powder skis and boots.

I have the same tires on my car. They were a big improvement over the 10 year old runflats That were on when I bought the car. The traction is much better and the noise Is cut in half.

You're right - time to get some new tires.

Man, the same thing happened to me when I bought mine. Tread looked perfect but date code indicated they were 11 years old. I very quickly ordered a new set of tires. And new rims, too!

Why the panic...I recall buying used tires (years ago) and drove around the world with them, not a problem. Not saying you should not replace but....?!

Hadn't thought about the tires lately. Like others I checked them and realized they were 9.5 years old. Probably ok for a little while but getting ready for a 1,000mi trip, so now may be the right time.

I replace the tires on my 99FRC about 5-6 years ago with Michelin non run flats. They maybe only have 4 thousand miles on them and it stays in the garage, when they reach 8 years old I don't know if I am going to run right out replace them.
By the way, my 99 still have the wagon wheels on it, I kinda like them. Last week I did finally buy a set of nice thin spokes in silver that I may replace them with someday but I am not in a big hurry.

Still good thread for awhile on the fronts. For sure going to non run flats when the time comes
