Default Clicking noise from rear, just did an outer CV boot repair last week

After replacing the outer CV boot with a new boot, grease and clamps, I'm getting a clicking noise at low speeds. Everything was checked, cleaned and put back together. Any ideas as to why I would be getting this noise? I have a feeling it's the bearings in the cv boot.

I have similar noise on mine. From what I've read the culprit could be the axles sticking to the hubs... basically the axle face (that mates up to the inner side of the hub) needs a little something on it for lubrication and the problem goes away. The big DIY sticky in the tech forum has info on this and says to use "synthetic" grease but doesn't go into much detail about exactly what kind of synthetic grease. I have synthetic whee bearing grease at work I'm going to use on them when I get the time.

Any time! Forgot to mention I think the fix says you should lube the splines too, but this can all be done without actually removing the axle. Just pop the nut off so it kind of moves back and forth in the hub and you'll have enough room. If you get to the repair before I do, let me know how it turns out.

I think I had the same you've got. Looks like it's fixed now, a few hundred miles and no more clicking.

Removed the axel nut today and got some grease in there. Well unfortunately the noise is still there. I put grease on the spindles and on the inside of the hub. I don't understand where it's coming from.

if the joint was contaminated with dirt (from the bad boot) the joint could be damaged or have dirt in it ?????

I thought of that, but we did clean it out very well. I'm hoping it's not that because that would mean taking it out completely again if not replacing the whole axel.

Tighten the sway bar end links. If you have the originals replace with metal.

I'll have the shop check it out. They just called and said they couldn't find it either but they did hear the noise when I brought it in. Someone mentioned possibly something with the parking break or maybe a loose brake pad in the caliper
