The C5/C6 is more than capable out of the box, spend the money on tires/brakes LONG before areo.
Are you kidding me with this?!?! So you're telling Erik how he should mod his car? Besides that, downforce is not a waste without race tires. It's going to improve the grip of whatever tires he's running thank you very much. So first "it's not functional ", Erik provides proof that it is, now "it won't work without the correct tires " gimme a break....

And, no harm no foul, I was just poking a little fun I like track cars, but right now I still need at least a cage, bigger brakes, etc, etc. Still working on it all.

I have pieced together my front brake set, which will probably be the next thing I buy. I'm gonna do the Wilwood Aero6 front calipers, with AFX 2-piece slotted rotors. I will lose around 8lbs per wheel in unsprung weight, and rotating mass going that route Then I have to decide if I'm going to invest in a dewitts radiator, and lay it out so I can finish the front aero, or if I will do Pfadt featherlight coilovers, and sway bars...everything costs a lot of money from here

It took me a while to piece together 2 pair of 18" Z06 factory wheels, but I did it finally late last summer, and got some cheap A7 scrubs from a speed shop I used to work for (left on good terms, so the owner still likes me lol). They aren't real pretty, but they were cheap. I need to get one more though because one of them doesn't hold air even switched the tires. The Z06 wheels are about the lightest you can get, so that is my track set. The bronze Forgestar's are too big an heavy, and they have been known to crack on the track, so they are just street wheels.
Aren't the magnesium thin spoke lighter than the Z06 wheels? They are hard to find but don't seem very expensive when people do sell them.

Even a "cheap" ebay wing will work at the track, as long as down force is generated. The wing is not wasted. That being said, some people will like it, and some will hate it. As for me, I like it since it represents a sport I love and doing HPDE in these cars is just awesome.

I like it! Looks badass and should work well for you. I'm curious how the decklid will hold up over time. I've heard of some people having issues with cracks and warping around the struts. They were C6s and C7s, so I'm curious how the C5s hold up.

Of course, you probably should have taken that money and invested it on better and more popular mods like tail light louvers and underhood chrome......

All this talk about track use etc, and nobody mentions the fact he's got a 4spd auto which is very anti-track unless you're at a drag strip at which point the wing is a hinderance.

It will be awesome!! But they also will have a wind tunnel to test it and mount it accordingly. (proper reinforcement)

Man look at all those rubish, ruined Corvettes I guess ST2 TT2 events just aren't for real sports cars :/
Nice pictures, now ask LG Motorsports, JDP Motorsports, Phoenix Performance, GSpeed, how they mount wings on their cars. And, I bet those race car pics you posted have extra bracing for the wing that go to the frame. The wing itself is not the problem.

I love this wing. I want to get a second trunk lid and mount a spoiler like this to it... and of course at the same time throw in a cam and a 150 shot .. because you have to be able to back up that wing with some serious power.

Congratulations, you have accomplished your purpose by getting the attention you want. Can we move to the next threat or keep modding this one ?

Cool with me. What I can't understand, is why YOU have such a problem with it. It's not like I kicked your dog. You're just being obnoxious, and rude.

I think it's really you that needs attention.

I think your car looks great. If i were doing a ton of trackdays I would invest in aero for sure. We all are part of the same community and are all waisting hard earned money anyways if you look at the big pic. One can say a base corvette is completely rediculous for public roads and the entire purchase is pointless.

Actually, there are a few of us that do appreciate his wing. You don't like it, we get it. No reason to keep trolling the thread and being a douchenozzle. Just move on pal.
